Modern Tyres adds branches in Republic of Ireland

Fermanagh-based tyre retailer Modern Tyres has announced plans to buy a depot in the Dublin area, continuing a recent expansion strategy within the business. So far, details of exactly which company it is have not yet been revealed. Modern Tyres is the biggest independent tyre retailer in Ireland, employing 200 people across 40 branches. Tyres & Accessories’ 2014 tyre retail survey found that – with 30 branches inside the UK – it is the ninth largest retailer in Britain. Two years ago Modern Tyres invested £1 million in buying 11 depots formerly run by Hanover in Eire.

Group general manager Charles Corscadden told the Belfast Telegraph: “Modern Tyres has been a hugely successful company since its inception by Jimmy Byrne in 1965. Strategic acquisitions, solid partnerships with tyre manufacturers and an unrivalled level of customer service have enabled us to grow into Ireland’s largest independent tyre retailer.”
