Alcoa Introduces Wheel Buy-Back Programme

Date: 10th August 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Alcoa announced today that it will become the first aluminium wheel manufacturer to buy back its used wheels. Alcoa’s new “Value for Life” programme for Fleets and Owner-Operators in the UK will come into effect this month. According to the company, “Value for Life” is all about providing customers with high quality products that offer a lifetime of value and care for our environment.

“Through this programme and others, Alcoa continues to reinforce and support our commitment to the environment and our customer base,” said Tim Myers, Alcoa Wheel Products’ vice president and general manager for Commercial Vehicle Wheels. Myers went on to say: “The recyclability of our forged aluminium wheels is just another example of the many benefits of aluminium, our products, and Alcoa’s focus on a sustainable future.”

The programme will be implemented through Alcoa’s distributor and stockist network. Specifically, Alcoa offers to buy back their customers’ used Alcoa forged aluminium wheels at £35.00 each when they replace them with new ones.

This is how the “Value for Life” program works: The fleets / owner operators contact their local Alcoa distributor or stockist to order new. Alcoa forged aluminium wheels for their commercial vehicles and inform them how many used wheels they wish to return. On receipt of the order for new Alcoa wheels and the used Alcoa wheels, the Alcoa distributor or stockist will issue a voucher of £35.00 per wheel. The fleets / owner operators send the completed vouchers to Alcoa Wheel Products Belgium NV, Industrieweg 135, B-3583 PAAL, Belgium, together with a copy of the invoice for new wheels purchased. When Alcoa receives and validates the vouchers, they will send a cheque of £35.00 per wheel to the fleet/owner operator.
