Delticom Exceeds 2005 Sales Goals

Date: 16th July 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Now in its fifth year of online tyre business, Delticom AG continues to grow. Last year the company exceeded the sales goals it set itself, registering about 128 million euros in annual sales. This represents a 60 per cent increase over the previous year, when the company’s sales amounted to 80 million euros.

Wholesale activities accounted for around 20 million of Delticom’s 2005 sales, while online retail sales totalled approximately 108 million euros. Sales growth was said to be “particularly robust” in Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Great Britain. Delticom recently ‘opened’ a new bilingual online store in Canada, which will offer some 60 tyre brands and 10,600 SKUs.

“Our customers are becoming ever more savvy and price conscious, and definitely do some price shopping before making a purchase decision. Customers have told us time and time again that they buy tyres from us because we offer very high quality at a reasonable price, on average 25 per cent less than our competitors,” said Delticom co-CEO Rainer Binder.

Delticom has over 7,900 partners across Europe not to mention another 8,500 in the US. David Black, head of sales in the UK, said he is delighted with the way things are going and with the positive reaction of the service stations. “There’s still plenty of room in the UK, and we’re happy to receive new registrations at any time,” commented Rainer Binder, board member of Delticom AG.
At the beginning of this year Delticom had over 3000 tyre mounting centres in Germany. And what’s more, Delticom customers can now view online evaluations (including customer evaluations) of their chosen tyre-mounting centre, and can find out how far the nearest Delticom service centre is from their home. Over 92 per cent of the 33,000 evaluations have been positive, so far.

As for the possibility of going public, Andreas Prüfer had this to say earlier this year: “We haven’t yet decided whether or not to go public, or when we would make such a move. We’re currently having our bankers and consultants assess various options.”

Mytyres welcomes 1,000th UK fitting partner

In May Delticom AG, the European market leader in the online tyre trade, welcomed its 1,000th UK fitting partner, Robert Henderson from Summerlea Garage in Glasgow. In a statement announcing the news Delticom applauded the “many clever business people” who “have made their lives easy by becoming fitting partners.”
Delticom registration brings with it free admission into the company’s online tyre trade sourcing system. Traders then have access to the B2B online shop www.yourtyres.com, which offers a range of more than 100 tyre brands and 25,000 types of tyre. Summer, winter and all season tyres are all available. They can be ordered 24/7, 365 days a year – all online of course. Delticom also claims to be setting the standards with regard to. All online transactions are encrypted with the most modern SSL (Secured Socket Layer) technology.

Based in Hanover, Germany Delticom operates 60 online tyre stores in 25 countries.
