Global Remould Services
This year Cheshire-based casing dealership, Global Remould Services, is celebrating its first decade in business. Much has changed since the beginning. 10 years ago the company turned over £180,000 worth of casing sales. Now annual turnover is almost 20 times that size (roughly £3.5 million). When a casing dealership grows this much, it is important that it also owns it own fleet. That’s why last year Global Remoulds purchased a tractor unit and three trailers to assist in the transportation of the 100,000 tyres that the company handles each year.
But these are no ‘normal’ trucks, quite apart from the fact that you are unlikely to miss them, due to their bright yellow colouring, there are two other characteristics that stand out. Firstly both the trailer and tractor units feature Bibendum livery, and secondly the tractor unit is registered as R-E-M-1-X. So what’s the Michelin connection?
“We are one of the largest casing supply agents to Michelin,” company founder Stuart Quinn, told Tyres & Accessories, explaining the company’s close association with the French manufacturer.
The casings Global Remoulds supplies are sourced from users, dealers and other manufacturers and mainly end up as part of either Michelin’s Remix (Michelin casings) or Encore (other manufacturer’s casings) processes. However some do go to other destinations, and obviously some casings have to be scrapped. To this end Global Remoulds works with Charles Lawrence International.
T&A asked Stuart Quinn how the company achieved such rapid growth and an association with one of the world’s leading manufacturers: “A lot of hard work!” he replied, adding that the company’s association with Michelin has been instrumental in its success.
As far as the future is concerned, Mr Quinn is aiming for further growth. One means of doing this is through the synergy opportunities that being a casing dealer provides, namely acting as a service provider. That’s why last year Stuart Quinn also founded Quinton Tyres. “It’s all about service, we’ll do what we say. And this is where I see further growth for us in the future.”
