The Car Showroom Poet publishes debut collection following life-changing coaching from Ben
12th August 2025Former car valuer John Cassidy, now “The Car Showroom Poet,” has published his debut book of automotive-inspired poetry, parody, and memoir after leaving the motor trade in 2024. Supported by six coaching sessions from automotive charity Ben, Cassidy gained the clarity and confidence to achieve his creative goals, including preparing a one-man Edinburgh Fringe 2025 show. His book, available on Amazon, reflects his neurodivergent perspective and experiences in the industry.

Yokohama reports record sales and profit in first-half 2025 results
12th August 2025Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has reported first-half 2025 sales revenue of ¥579.2 billion (£2.98 billion, €3.52 billion, $3.89 billion), which represents an increase 10.3 per cent compared with the same period of the previous year. Business profit increased 13.8 per cent to ¥62.1 billion (£319.7 million, €377.2 million, $417.4 million). Both figures are new record highs for first-half results. However, operating profit was ¥54.9 billion (£282.5 million, €333.4 million, $368.9 million), down 2.5 per cent year on year, and profit attributable to owners of parent decreased 23.7 per cent, to ¥35.5 billion (£182.7 million, €215.6 million, $238.6 million).

In February we reported that Yokohama TWS North America intended to permanently close its Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA facility, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing made with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. That WARN notice cited 19 April as the closure date and stated that the move will affect 90 jobs.
