Sailun Cambodia plant increases tyre production capacity by 6 million units

On 30 October, Sailun stated that it plans to invest 1.47 billion yuan (approximately £170 million; €190 million) to build a semi-steel radial tyre project in Cambodia with an annual output of 6 million units. According to the tyre manufacturer, as the competitiveness of tyre products at Cambodian factories has continued to improve in recent years, existing production capacity can no longer meet existing customer orders. It is reported that the newly added semi-steel radial tyre products will be mainly targeted at overseas markets such as North America.

Sailun’s revenue in the first three quarters was close to 20 billion yuan

On 18 October, Chinese tyre manufacturer Sailun announced its primary financial data for the first three quarters 2023. Data disclosed by the tyre company showed that revenue in the first nine months was close to 20 billion yuan, reaching 19.01 billion yuan (approximately £2.13 billion; €2.45 billion), a year-on-year increase of 13.72 per cent.

Nokian Tyres has unveiled a new all-season tyre for European markets and launch images of the Seasonproof 1 don’t only provide a view of what the tyre looks like – the DOT code on the sidewall tells us where Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 1 is made, and who the manufacturer is. What we can see from the 205/55 R16 and 235/60 R18 tyres in publicity photos is that both were produced by Sailun Group in Qingdao, China.

Sailun expands Atrezzo ZSR2 and ZSR2 EV tyre ranges

Sailun Tyre Group is expanding its range of Atrezzo ZSR2 and ZSR2 EV tyres. By the end of the year, 14 new tyre dimensions ranging from 16 to 20 inches in diameter, a total of 54 sizes will be introduced. The majority of the sizes are concentrated on vehicle models with R19 and R20 wheel sizes. Corresponding tyre dimensions for the fast-growing SUV segment will follow in spring 2024.

Sailun Group net profit rises 62% in H1 2023

Sailun Group reports having produced 14.16 million tyres and selling 13.57 million tyres in Q2 2023. During the first half of this year, the company produced 25.68 million tyres, a year-on-year increase of 12.3 per cent. H1 2023 tyre sales amounted to 25.11 million pieces, up 12.3 per cent year-on-year.

Football: Sailun a premium partner to VfL Osnabrück

Together with local distribution partner Bohnenkamp, Sailun Group has become tyre partner of German football club VfL Osnabrück, which currently plays in the second division 2. Bundesliga. Sailun has come on board as a premium partner, while Bohnenkamp and the Maxam brand serve as team partners. This joint arrangement will initially run for three years.

Sailun overtakes Linglong into pole position in China: Analysing the 2022 annual reports of listed Chinese tyremakers

Recently, Chinese listed companies have released their 2022 annual reports. Tyrepress China conducted a statistical analysis of the annual report data of 10 tyre companies. Among the companies included in the analysis list, Sailun, Linglong, Triangle, Huayi (the parent company of Double Coin), Aeolus, and Jiangsu General are listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Guizhou Tyre, Doublestar, and Sentury are listed companies on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The data of Prinx Chengshan comes from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

A Guinness World Record with Sany & Sailun

Sailun tyres produced using EcoPoint³ technology have played a role in securing Sany Truck’s place in the Guinness World Records. A Sany Mota 1165 heavy-duty electric truck fitted with Sailun SFL1 tyres in size 12R22.5 18PR broke the record for the longest distance travelled by an electric semi-trailer truck on a single charge.

Michelin top, Sailun the fastest riser: All change in the second half of the global tyremaker top 20

There are many changes in our latest leading tyre manufacturers ranking. The 2023 table, which lists the world’s leading tyre companies according to their full-year 2022 financial results, particularly highlights the shifts that have taken place this year in the second half of the top 20. Meanwhile, the top nine tyremakers appear to be an increasingly stable group. Between places nine and 10, there is still a gap of some 1 billion euros, something that is clearly hard to overcome for newcomers. However, as insurmountable as it appears, the gap is obviously narrowing.

Sustainability & Performance: Sailun launches Atrezzo ZSR2

Sailun Group Europe has introduced several new tyres featuring its EcoPoint3 liquid-phase mixing technology. One of these products is the Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2, a tyre hailed by its manufacturer as the “ultimate combination of sustainability and performance.” Atrezzo ZSR2 is available in sizes for 17- to 20-inch rims, 205 – 275mm tyre widths, 30 – 55 cross sections and speed ratings W and Y.

Sailun’s revenue exceeds 20 billion yuan, ranked #1 Chinese listed tyre firm

In 2022, Sailun’s revenue was 21.9 billion yuan (approximately £2.55 billion; €2.89 billion), a year-on-year increase of 21.69 per cent. Sailun became the first listed Chinese tyre company with revenue exceeding 20 billion yuan. At the same time, the company’s revenue in 2022 surpassed Linglong, becoming the number one listed tyre company in China. During the reporting period, Sailun produced 43.2078 million tyres, sold 43.903 million tyres, and realized a net profit of 1.33 billion yuan (about £150 million; €180 million).

Dunlop’s brand value shrank three-times faster than Sailun Tire’s grew

While Michelin was found to the be most valuable tyre brand, as we previewed a month ago, the 2023 Brand Finance data also shows Michelin is the strongest brand with a Brand Strength Index score of 88.1 out of 100 and a corresponding AAA rating. However, there were also significant shifts between 10th and 15th place in the ranking of the world’s leading tyre brands. Specifically, Sailun leapfrogged Linglong into 11th place in the “most valuable” category. And MRF rose two places from 15th to 13th this year. Meanwhile, Dunlop’s brand value shrank three-times faster than Sailun Tire’s grew.
