Jiangsu General reports that the first tyre rolled off the production line of its Cambodia Factory Phase II project. The tyre manufacturer defines this milestone as “another historic and important moment in the internationalisation journey”. Conti changes ‘WinterContact’ range’s naming convention
If you look at the last three generations of Conti winter tyres, almost anyone in the industry could guess the next name in the range ‘WinterContact TS 850’ (2012), ‘WinterContact TS 860’ (2015) and ‘WinterContact TS 870’ (2020/2021). But we would all be wrong. As was previously the case with its summer tyres and the ‘EcoContact 7’ and ‘EcoContact 7 S’ models, the manufacturer has now also introduced a new winter profile without making a big fuss about it, which, contrary to the naming convention previously used for its winter tyres, is called ‘WinterContact 8 S’. The ‘S’ in the name obviously stands for sport, as the manufacturer describes the model as its sportiest winter tyre to date.

Continental recalls >146,000 car tyres and 100s of truck tyres in North America
Across the Atlantic, Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (Continental) is conducting two parallel recalls. The largest relates to Continental’s ProContact GX AO tyres. According to US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) filings, centres on size 255/35R19 96H XL fitments of the tyre made between 9 May 2021 and 17 August 2024 and relates to potential belt separation issues. Continental reports that ProContact GX AO was mainly sold as an OE fitment for the Audi A4/A5. But approximately 10 per cent of the affected tyres were sold in the US replacement market. As many as 146,568 tyres are covered by the recall and Continental estimates that 100 per cent have the described defect.

For years, oxy-gas flame methods were the standard for heating, but now, induction heating is said to be taking over. Induction heating offers numerous benefits over oxy-fuel, including “cost, efficiency, ease of use, and significant safety improvements”.
