Ikon Tyres to complete Nokian rebranding by Spring 2024

Russian motorists can still purchase Nokian tyres, but the brand’s days are numbered in this market. After energy company Tatneft acquired Nokian Tyres’ local assets, it renamed the operation Ikon Tyres and began producing tyres under the Ikon name in June 2023. Ikon Tyres says the process of updating tyre sidewall moulds has taken several months, but it started the volume production of rebranded summer tyres in December. This means that all products that dealers sell from Spring 2024 will carry the Ikon name instead of Nokian.
Ikon Autograph fills the premium-shaped hole created by the departing Nokian Tyres brand, and debuts with a summer line-up consisting of the high-performance Ikon Autograph Ultra 2, the ‘three-season’ Ikon Autograph Aqua 3, and the low rolling resistance Ikon Autograph Eco 3. Ikon Tyres currently brands the mid-range tyres produced in its Vsevolozhsk factory as Ikon Nordman products, and these have identical technical specifications to the Nordman tyres previously produced there. The company intends to rebrand Ikon Nordman as Ikon Character at a later date.
Over both brands, Ikon Tyres offers a summer range that includes 102 premium and 68 mid-price tyres for passenger cars and SUVs from 13 to 21 inches with various speed and load ratings. The company reports that the Vsevolozhsk plant is operating around the clock to produce summer and winter car and SUV tyres for the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. It adds that the factory is not producing at full capacity due to European Union sanctions restricting tyre sales within this region.
