Euro Car Parts opens third national distribution centre

Euro Car Parts has opened a new 258,000 square foot warehouse facility on Bonehill Road in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Located close to the 600,000 square foot National Distribution Centre (NDC), which opened in 2010, and 15 miles from the collision repair parts facility at Swadlincote, which opened in 2012, ‘Bonehill’ is designed to “future-proof” the business as it drives towards its 165 plus UK branch target by end 2014.

Euro Car Parts Bonehill boasts 15 docking bays and will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. State-of-the-art technology at the site includes a fast wireless network, voice activated picking, cutting-edge recycling and Man-up combi picker and stacker trucks. ECP has invested in designing storage systems, electronic stock management control and bespoke mobile order fulfilment platforms across all sites.

In addition the facility has more than 15,000 square foot of space which is currently being refurbished into a Training Academy. As with the NDC, the A5 provides easy access to Junction 10 of the M42, quickly linking to an extensive motorway network including the M6, M6 Toll, M40 and M5.

Steve Horne, director at Euro Car Parts who looks after the logistics for the company commented: “Our new Bonehill facility will significantly boost the warehouse capacity for the company, as we continue our ambitious branch opening programme during 2014 and beyond.”
