Nankang launches WF-2 Sportiac for sport touring bikes

The WF-2 features a harder compound in the tread centre and a softer compound in the shoulder area

Some three years after introducing its first motorcycle tyre, the Roadiac WF-1, Nankang has expanded its two-wheel portfolio with the release of the WF-2 Sportiac sport touring tyre. The Taiwan-based tyre maker claims that two years of research and testing went into the WF-2 Sportiac’s development, and as a result the tyre “stands out with high performance in grip within every kind of road condition.”

Priorities for the WF-2 Sportiac were to enhance grip and stability characteristics with a new compound. Nankang says the semi-slick compound enables the tyre to warm up in a shorter time period, and the use of JLSB (jointless steel belt) technology also assists in reaching and maintaining the correct operating temperature.

Nankang has designed the centre tread area for maximal wear resistance and longer mileage, while the shoulders feature a softer compound for improved grip in corners. The shoulder area features grooves to facilitate water drainage.

The WF-2 is available in a size 120/70R17 front tyre fitment and in sizes 180/55ZR17, 190/50ZR17 and 190/55ZR17 for the rear. Further sizes will join the range later in 2014.
