New wheel from Alcoa

Date: 3rd September 2013 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Alcoa has expanded its medium duty portfolio with a new wheel size: 19.5 x 6.75. Alcoa already offers the 17.5 x 6.75 wheel for medium duty trucks. It is available in two finishes; Brushed and Dura-Bright. The new wheel has the following specification:

Size: 19.5 x 6.75

Weight: 17.1 kg

Max. load per wheel: 2575 kg

Offset: 127 mm

Alcoa wheels are manufactured from a single block of high-strength, corrosion resistant aluminium alloy. With a 8000 tons press the block is forged into a wheel shape. Once forged the wheels are heat-treated to maximise overall mechanical strength. The Alcoa forging process aligns the grain flow of aluminium with the shape of the wheel, even in the critical area where disc and rim meet. This process results in wheels with unrivalled forged strength that pass the most demanding tests: TÜV, LBF and JWL-T.
