Starco Introduces New Trailer Retread Range
Starco RT Agritread tyres for agricultural trailers, slurry tankers, muck spreaders and more are not just two new members of Starco’s product range; they also represent a new product line, since the RT Agritread ML and RT Agritread SL are high quality retreads. The tyres were designed for a high proportion of road use, in addition to high-speed medium to heavy load applications such as slurry tankers. The RT Agritread ML (Mud & Load) pattern is suitable for field and road usage, providing better traction in field, yielding greater fuel efficiency. The RT Agritread SL (Speed & Load) was designed for a large proportion of road work, with the ribbed pattern providing a smoother, quieter run and longer lifetime. Starco says the tyres are being rebuilt exclusively from premium brand carcasses exclusively to the ECE 109 standard, which makes them “a safe, durable and economical option”.
The company also supplies an AW range of agricultural free rolling tyres designed for reliability in demanding transport operations and work in the fields. Typical applications include bale wrappers, bale pressers, rollers, disc harrows and transport equipment. Starco says it has an improved climbing capacity and easier steering out of furrows and deep ruts, reducing the risk of slipping on transverse slopes. It features slightly angled, optimised longitudinal grooves which enable better self-cleaning properties as well as stone rejection and a strong, flexible nylon carcass allowing high load capacity at low tyre pressure. The large contact surface reduces damage to the soil structure.
Starco SG Flotation tyres are primarily intended for agricultural implement applications such as tipping and silage trailers, harrows and ploughs, though they give operators of agricultural machinery increased manoeuvrability, stability and reliability from any suitable equipment.
Jason Calvert, Starco GB Agricultural Sales manager also explained that the company provides a wide variety of wheel accessories with agricultural applications. The Schaad Clic, aimed at the ATV and compact machinery user, is a patented wheel doubling product that allows more power to be transmitted to the tyres, increasing traction by up to 30 per cent and improving stability. Schaad also provides dual wheel systems for heavier applications. The DTS is a patented system that dissipates the stresses of the spacer more evenly across the whole wheel and prevents the wheel spacers from locking together. “The system is largely based around the ‘spindle head lock’,” explains Calvert, “which replaces the need for the old, and susceptible to failure, hook and eye system. Its carrying capacity is up to 25 tonnes per units, reducing the number of clamps required per wheel. It is self-adjusted once fitted and does not need to be removed to be adjusted…saving time and energy.” Schaad also manufactures “quick to assemble” Row Crop equipment, which can reduce lead time and overall production costs.
