No nasty surprises in Auto Bild Allrad’s SUV tyre test
SUV and 4×4 specialist magazine Auto Bild Allrad has tested seven summer tyres that, given their ‘W’ and ‘Y’ speed ratings, probably won’t spend a lot of time away from the tarmac. The on-road emphasis of these size 235/55 R19 (front) and 255/50 R19 (rear) tyres was underlined by the choice of Porsche Cayenne as test main vehicle, while a Toyota pick-up was used to shed light on their off-road capabilities. Continental occupies its regular slot at the top of the Auto Bild test table, with the SportContact 5 SUV voted winner with a rating of ‘exemplary’. This top rating was also given to the Nokian zLine SUV. The Falken Azenis FK 453CC, Michelin Latitude Sport 3, Pirelli Scorpion Verde, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 SUV and Hankook S1 evo2 SUV were all rated ‘good’.
