Infinity Tyres has announced the introduction of a new UK car tyre warranty backed with a 30-day exchange guarantee. The warranty is being introduced in co-operation with its authorised partner, Bond International, and will be honoured at any authorised Infinity dealership in the UK. The brand says it expects to increase further the public’s confidence in the Infinity product, since it also covers the tyres for accidental damage occurrences.

Kumho Tire U.S.A., Inc. has recalled a number of its Solus passenger car tyres due to a sidewall cracking issue. According to the company’s submission to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administrion (NHTSA), certain 225/45 R17 Kumho Solus KH25 produced 21 August 2011 through 23 June 2012 have an issue which could develop into cracking in the sidewall, which could result in air loss and in turn in a potential tyre failure.

Saab Parts UK welcomes parts production restart

Saab Automobile Parts AB has signed an agreement with the administrators of Saab Automobile AB allowing them the use of Saab’s press and body shop plant, including the specialist tooling, for the manufacture and assembly of body parts. The decision has been welcomed by Saab Parts UK, which said that the restart of in Trollhättan for parts manufacturing would allow parts availability to return to the levels experienced before production was halted. The UK parts supplier has been trading for almost four months, and the company says it continues to grow its network of authorised repairers.

Paul Beaurain, managing director of Pro-Align, which exclusively distributes Hunter products in the UK said: “It’s a real feather in our cap for Hunter to have the endorsement of such a prestigious sports car manufacturer as Aston Martin.” Pro-Align worked with Aston Martin to gain its approval for the deal.

Qatar implements tougher tyre rules

Following a September 15 change in the regulations covering automotive spare parts in Qatar, the importation of used tyres and certain new tyres into the Gulf state is now forbidden. Under the new rules, issued by the country’s Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Business and Trade and Ministry of Interior, no new tyres will be permitted to enter the country unless accompanied by a Gulf Conformity Certificate. Tyres must also carry a 180km/h speed rating in order to be eligible for importation. Balloon tyres intended for use on passenger vehicles are also no longer able to be imported unless accompanied by a certificate of conformity, with the type of tyre engraved in red on the sidewall.

Alcoa Wheel Products will be showing its forged aluminium wheels at Tip-Ex show (stand C7-8) between 10 and 12 June. The wheel maker recently added some 17.5” wheels to its portfolio including: a 17.5 x 6.75 10 hole low deck trailer wheel, available in mirror polished version; a 17.5 x 6.75 6 hole truck wheel for medium duty trucks. Snap-on Equipment has announced its new N2 Generator nitrogen inflation system, available under the Hofmann and John Bean brands. The mobile unit for motorcycle, car, caravan, 4X4 and LCV tyres generates nitrogen at a rate of 4,380 litres per hour. Snap-on says nitrogen inflation will help extend tyre life, lower fuel consumption and reduce tyre wear, therefore improving grip, handling and safety due to much slower tyre pressure loss, as nitrogen particles are larger than oxygen.
