In order to support its ambition of becoming a true Nordic tyre & wheel specialist, independent tyre distribution firm Vimexa has become a corresponding member of the STRO (Scandinavian Tire and Rim Organization) in Sweden. Announcing Vimexa’s STRO membership, managing director Rutger Veerman said “we have realised strong growth in the Nordic (and Baltic) region during the last five years, and with our hub in Helsinki the logistics is optimal.”
Spring is on its way, and independent tyre distribution firm Vimexa says it has a wide range of products available to customers. Managing director Rutger Veerman confirms that a number of brands are available, and as 85 per cent of the tyres that Vimexa supplies are premium products, import uncertainties won’t be an issue. But options also exist for customers shopping for budget tyres.
At the start of this year, independent tyre distribution specialist Vimexa expanded its offices at the Technopolis facility near Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Managing director Rutger Veerman says more office space was needed to accommodate the “substantial” growth that Vimexa has enjoyed in Scandinavia and the Baltic region during the last three years.
Independent tyre distribution specialist Vimexa has refreshed its website, and visitors with a minute and a half to spare can find out how the company operates and the ways it can add value via a new introductory video.
One man, a kitchen table and a vision. Nothing more is needed to launch a successful business. When we spoke with the founder of fledgling company Vimexa five years ago about his goal of matching stocks between suppliers and customers, beginnings were small and hopes high. From there, Rutger Veerman has built his company up into a thriving niche player within the tyre market that serves wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers around the world. We recently caught up to find out about Vimexa at five years of age.
At the start of 2017, Vimexa Automotive B.V. will open a branch office in Scandinavia in order to further optimise the services and logistics it offers clients within the tyre and wheel sectors in the region and in the Baltic States. The new office will be based in Helsinki, Finland and is a fully-owned subsidiary of Vimexa Holding B.V.
Ten years is a long time in the tyre world. Over the past decade, European industry observers have witnessed the eco tyre niche blossom into a mainstream segment, seen the implementation of regulations such as REACH and the EU tyre label, and looked on in amazement as end users stopped sniggering at Chinese-made tyres and began looking upon them as a serious, and cheaper alternative to established brands.
Gaining a foothold in a new market or securing the best deal on stock is easier said than done. It’s difficult for wholesalers, manufacturers or dealers to be experts in every aspect of the tyre business, and this means that companies often miss out on opportunities simply because they don’t know about them. In such instances you can either accept this limitation – or you can look for someone who can help. This year a new Netherlands-based company, Vimexa Automotive BV, entered the business of helping companies within the tyre, wheel and battery industries find what they want or need. Other automotive products, such as TPMS – a product of growing significance in Europe – may also be introduced into the portfolio. Tyres & Accessories recently met with company founder Rutger Veerman to discover more.
