From 1 January 2017, BVF1RST, the wholesale arm of the Bandvulc Group will be the exclusive supplier of the Uniroyal truck tyre brand across the UK.
Throughout 2016 Bandvulc has introduced a new generation of tyres. These meet the modern day needs of transport companies and provide consistent performance and safety for regional applications and long-distance routes. The new steer axle FH 40, drive axle DH 40 and trailer axle TH 40 tyres boast increased mileage, wet performance and reduced rolling resistance over predecessors.
While the Uniroyal tyre brand is owned by Continental in Europe, in North America the name belongs to the Michelin fold and has been present in the consumer market there for more than 50 years. The existing North American market Uniroyal portfolio of passenger car, SUV and light commercial vehicle tyres is now being joined for the first time by a heavy commercial vehicle tyre range; six new truck tyres have been launched in the US market.
Kings Road Tyres (KRT), one of the largest specialist distributors of truck tyres in the UK, has reported substantial growth in sales of its budget ranges of TBR fitments, with volumes up 20 per cent year-on-year. KRT sells a number of exclusive budget brands including Aeolus, Antyre, Fullrun and Blacklion.
After 34 years in the tyre industry, Uniroyal truck tyres manager Glen Birkwood is retiring on 31 October. Having entered the tyre business in 1980, Birkwood rose through the ranks at Pirelli, Firestone and then Bridgestone before becoming Uniroyal truck tyres sales manager in 2000.
