Kings Road Tyres has added the Blacklion passenger car range and new Turf/ATV tyres from its Kingstone house brand to its portfolio. Already the exclusive distributor of Blacklion’s TBR range, KRT has extended its stock with the Sailun-produced brand’s PCR products. KRT describes Kingstone, first introduced in 1987, as being among the very first house brands developed exclusively by a UK wholesaler. The development of a new range of 50 turf and all-terrain vehicle tyres is a reflection of KRT’s strategic decision to grow its business in this specialist market.
A leading UK distributor of OTR tyres has predicting sustained growth in the segment as the construction sector rallies with improved UK economy. Since the financial crash of 2008 the aftermarket OTR tyre sector has suffered from a severely contracted end-user market. House building, often seen as a barometer of the health of the sector, saw starts falling to record low levels and other major developments have been put on ice. Kings Road Tyres (KRT) says the upturn in domestic construction activity will support sales growth in its OTR tyre brands.

Following its sale, the existing management team, led by Adrian Bader, has overseen the development of its brand portfolio, with an increased involvement in the passenger car segment for the commercial vehicle tyre specialist heralded by an agreement to distribute Aeolus-branded PCR and 4×4 products. KRT says this deal, launched at October’s Brityrex show, alongside other investments in its brand portfolio and business infrastructure is setting up leading UK tyre wholesaler Kings Road Tyres (KRT) for a sustained period of long-term growth.
Kings Road Tyres was appointed as the exclusive distributor of Aeolus passenger car tyres at the beginning of 2014, and the company has announced the launch of this venture as a focal point of its Brityrex International 2014 activity, presented on its own stand. Primarily known as a distributor of commercial and agricultural tyres, KRT plans to get behind its new PCR product range with a package for retailers, called the Aeolus Valued Partner scheme. KRT says it will offer exclusive and innovative benefits, including an Aeolus-themed merchandising package, to fit out a reception area.

Leading UK commercial vehicle tyre wholesaler Kings Road Tyres (KRT) launched its latest addition to a portfolio of exclusive TBR tyre brands at its Reifen 2014 stand. It will distribute the Jinyu manufactured Blacklion brand in the UK exclusively, with stocks available from the third quarter of 2014, KRT says.
The Kings Road Tyres Group has appointed Tim Bader to the new senior role of operations manager. Bader was previously KRT’s purchasing and marketing manager, and the promotion brings with it the added responsibility for a wide portfolio of Group roles, including IT and communications, stock control, transport and health & safety.
While premium tyre manufacturers are notably providing more application-specific products to the coach and bus sector, the move to specialisation does not end in the higher-priced market segment. Crewe family firm Hopley Tyres enjoyed an exciting day of off-road driving at the Kankku 4×4 driving school recently, courtesy of Kings Road Tyres, and Kankku supplier, Cooper Tire. Dudley, Carl and Geoff Hopley travelled to the premier adventure driving centre in the beautiful Lake District countryside, with KRT branch manager, Mark Sneap, and purchasing and marketing manager, Tim Bader.
The Hopleys had won the trip in a competition run by Middlesex-based KRT and Cooper Tire at the Brityrex show at Manchester’s G-Mex Centre in May in order to showcase the Cooper Discoverer STT’s astounding capabilities off-road. Dudley Hopley said: “There were certain tracks we went up that I thought were impossible in any vehicle, but the Cooper STTs proved us all wrong.”
