Supertracker launches Shoot & Go number plate recognition system

Southampton based Supertracker, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of wheel alignment equipment, has launched Shoot & Go, an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system designed to obtain technical Wheel Alignment data. Now available to order on the STR600 and STR120B aligners, Shoot & Go uses a digital camera installed in front of the lift, ramp or pit, to detect the number plate of the vehicle in service.

Pirelli launches Connesso integrated tyre sensor, app, cloud system

While some firms used the Geneva Motor Show platform to communicate their vision for the future, Pirelli has launched some futuristic technology now in its Pirell Connesso system. In short, Pirelli Connesso is an integrated sensor, receiver, cloud and app platform that is designed to give motorists the most in-depth and near real-time status and service integration that has yet been offered.

In-car gadgets responsible for increased road traffic accidents

The Department for Transport recently announced that the number of deaths and serious injuries on Britain’s road rose by 4 per cent to nearly 25,000 in 2014, with some commentators suggesting that in-car technology is distracting drivers behind the wheel. This concern is echoed in consumer research undertaken by BCA, Europe’s leading used vehicle marketplace, which found that 95 per cent of respondents had seen other motorists using a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving.

Trelleborg Dealer Locator launches on smartphones with 5,000 dealers

Trelleborg has optimised its Dealer Locator app for iOS and Android smartphones, adding the details of more than 5,000 professional agricultural tyre and machine dealers. Already available on tablets, the Trelleborg Dealer Locator is offered in five languages and identifies the Trelleborg tyre dealer nearest to a selected location. The manufacturer has been expanding its suite of mobile device applications throughout 2014, having identified this area as a valuable service for its customers. It has introduced updated Load Calculator, Tire Efficiency, and Tire Book apps, in addition to innovating its marketing approach through a video game.
