Mickey Thompson’s Baja Legend EXP off-road have claimed 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show Best New Product Awards in the Tire and Related Product category. Mickey Thompson’s ET Street Front drag tyre and Cooper Tire’s Discoverer Snow Claw were also named runners-up.

SEMA cancels 2020 Show

SEMA

SEMA, the US Specialty Equipment Market Association, has cancelled its 2020 Show, due to take place 3-7 November in Las Vegas. The association said it made the decision due to Covid-19 and concerns that event facilities and services will be unavailable. It was informed by difficulties in preparations arising from “mounting uncertainty” about the show’s status. It added that full refunds for SEMA Show exhibitor booth deposits and attendee registration fees will be issued.

Yokohama wins SEMA award

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) announced its Best New Products Award winners this morning at the 2019 SEMA Show. SEMA’s annual New Product Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in the development of products being introduced to the automotive specialty-equipment market at the SEMA Show. Products are judged in 16 award categories, and each category has one winner and two runners-up.

SEMA appoints Kosikov VP of sales

Warren Kosikov has been named vice-president of sales for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). In this position he will lead the sales team and guide the day-to-day sales strategy for both the SEMA and PRI Shows, SEMA News and Performance Racing Industry magazines and related media content. Kosikov, who joined SEMA in 2014, has more than 30 years of industry experience.

SEMA: Trump’s tariffs ‘misplaced’

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has voiced its disapproval of US President Trump’s aim to impose 25 per cent tariffs on a range of products imported from China; the US-based association, which represents the vehicle aftermarket, says it opposes these tariffs as well as the Trump administration’s tariffs on steel and aluminium and the threatened tariffs on imported cars and automotive parts – it considers them “as misplaced and having the potential to impose significant harm on US businesses and consumers.”

ZC launches Smart Tire System

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas hosted the first overseas launch of ZC Rubber’s ‘Smart Tire System’ ahead of the cloud-based tyre lifecycle management platform’s release within the region. The system is intended for use with buses and trucks used in a range of application, and assists in the monitoring of tyre temperature and pressure, vehicle position, as well as fleet management. Through the use of the Smart Tire System, ZC Rubber aims to achieve “win-win cooperation” with its dealers and customers.

Atturo to introduce CV400 commercial van tyre at SEMA with 40,000 mile warranty

The tyre is designed for such models as the Ford Transit and Ram Pro Master, vehicles which have become increasingly popular for all types of urban service and delivery fleets. Martin named SEMA chairman-elect

At the start of June Tim Martin from K&N Engineering was elected SEMA’s chairman-elect and will help the SEMA board of directors lead the association for the 2017–2019 term. Martin fills the position held for the past two years by Wade Kawasaki of the Coker Group, who will begin serving his term as chairman in July. James Lawrence from Power Automedia was also voted onto the SEMA board of directors, and Greg Adler from Transamerican Auto Parts was re-elected, and will serve another term.
