SD-International (SDI) has announced plans to showcase its Pace, Toledo and Zeta private label ranges – which cover the car radial and truck and bus sectors – at this year’s Reifen show in Essen.
At the same SDI will be showcasing new AT and MT 4×4 tyre ranges, which will be available in both the Pace and Zeta variants, while the firm’s multilingual sales team will be revealing advance details of its new Zeta car tyre and SUV tyre ranges. Company representatives report that these have been specially produced for the American and ASEAN markets. Manufacturing of the new lines is set to commence in June of this year.

International contract tyre producer SD International is aiming to develop into being a leading supplier of SUV tyres within the UK and European market sectors through the firm’s private brands Pace and Zeta.
Shanghai based contract tyre producer SD-International offer a comprehensive choice of van and light commercial tyres under its trio of private brand labels, Zeta, Pace and Toledo.
Bristol’s Unity Tyre distributes budget brand tyres in the UK, having established itself as an independent wholesaler with the objective of providing a “one-stop-shop” service. Unity’s spokesperson said the company works closely with “tyre manufacturing suppliers including SD International to ensure we meet the demands of our customer base with continuous quality products.” Unity also commented on major issues in the UK tyre wholesale sector covered in October’s Tyres & Accessories feature, and suggested that further volatility could lead to its contraction in the near future.
Derby’s Eden Tyres & Servicing (ETS) holds over 60,000 tyres in stock for immediate delivery. The family owned and managed business commenced trading in 1981 at its headquarter base in Codnor Gate, Ripley. Leigh Howes of ETS said: “One of our most established partnerships has been with Chinese based contract tyre producer SD-International. We have been purchasing their popular Zeta range for the past five years both as a wholesale brand and through our thriving ten retail outlets throughout the East Midlands. We stock the Zeta brand on an exclusive basis for a number of reasons including the extensive range available and because of its competitive pricing structure.”
SD International has a trio of 4×4 tyres available through its private Zeta and Pace brands alongside the exclusive Maxtrek label. The Maxtrek range presents four rugged, off-road tyre’s suitable for all types of 4×4/SUV vehicles with the Sierra S6 pattern on offer in 46 sizes from 215/75R 15 to 31×10.5R and the SMT-A8 in three sizes from 225/70RC through to 225/65R 17. The SU800 has 31 size options from 225/75R up to 31.10.50 16LT6 plus the Mud Digger pattern is currently available in 12 sizes from LT265/75R 16-8 to LT35 x 12.50R 15.6.
SD-International (SDI) has appointed Steve Tidmarsh as general manager. Tidmarsh brings over 35 years of experience to the Shanghai-based contract tyre manufacturer.
Tidmarsh’s experience includes 25 years at Goodyear Dunlop, culminating as sales and marketing director of both the consumer and commercial sectors. He has also held the position of financial director with Hi-Q Tyre Services as well as six years as managing director of Kumho UK, becoming the first non-South Korean to hold this title.
This year SD-International took an outside booth between Halls 19 and 22 of Autopromotec. According to the company, this meant the contract manufacturer attracted “a constant stream of visitors including established customers and potentially new international distribution partners”. Peter Nicholls, SD-International’s sales and marketing director explained, stating: “With a recently opened new warehouse in Germany enabling swift delivery throughout Europe, we were initially intending to attract increased customer sales in Italy and other parts of Europe.

The organiser of Brityrex International 2014, SingEx-ECI International, said that it will seek to take the show “to the next level” following feedback from the 2014 edition of the show. A foundation for increased success has been laid by an expanded programme of informative and engaging discussions in the form of TyreTalk seminars, enhanced product variety, numerous product launches and first time appearances at a UK tradeshow, the organiser said.
Shanghai-based contract tyre manufacturer SD-International recently reinforced its European sales team with the appointment of Andy Baron as sales manager (Northern Europe). Both this and the introduction of the company’s new Toledo range took place during October’s Britytrex exhibition in Manchester.

According to the company, the Zeta and Pace TBR pattern ranges are both exclusively produced in China for SD-International at an “ultra-modern production facility”. Both brands offer a “tested and approved” programme covering all current international quality control standards.
Shanghai based contract tyre manufacturer SD-International’s three private brands – Pace, Zeta and Maxtrek – all provide winter tyre patterns. The Zeta and Pace brands present the Antartica winter range, which includes three pattern designs with features such as a high silica compound, multi-flat profile and a wide tread design. The range is available in V speed rating for all high performance vehicles.
