Cooper Tire Europe has extended its support of the World Rallycross Championship. In addition to being the official tyre supplier and associate partner of the FIA series for the fourth consecutive year, Cooper has become the title sponsor of the 2017 World RX of Hockenheim. Cooper has supported World RX since its inception in 2014, and supplies eight dry and eight wet tyres per Supercar driver at each of the 12 rounds. Cooper also became the presenting sponsor and tyre supplier to the second tier RX2 International series – previously RX Lites – for this season earlier in the year.
Cooper Tire Europe has become the presenting sponsor and official tyre supplier of the RX2 International Series, the rebranded feeder series to the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Formerly known as RX Lites, the series has been renamed the RX2 International Series presented by Cooper Tires.
The popular FIA World Rallycross Championship and RX Lites series, both racing on Cooper tyres, return to Sweden this weekend, in Höljes on 3-5 July. Previewing one of the most demanding rallycross circuits in Europe, Paul Coates, general manager – motorsport, Cooper Tire Europe, said: “The Swedish round at Höljes places some extreme forces on the tyres, with a sixth gear straight and quick changes from gravel to asphalt, plus the jumps.
The FIA World Rallycross Championship entered its second year in Montalegre, Portugal on 24 April, with the series again supplied by Cooper Tire. The manufacturer has also agreed to supply exclusively the supporting RX Lites grid in 2015. The World RX season opener began with a total of 52 cars, including 21 supercars with 600 brake horsepower, going head-to-head in Portugal.
