The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd has formally announced that it will formally start using a new management structure as of tomorrow (2 July). The structure will be headed by new chairman and representative director, Yasuo Tominaga, and new president and representative director, Tadanobu Nagumo. Currently the pair are both representative directors and are president and executive director respectively.

Chris Barella, group marketing manager at Euro Car Parts, said: “We have built up long term working relationships with customers across the UK, based on trust and quality of service and wanted to reward the loyalty of our customers by offering them something extra special. From the feedback we’ve had it looks like we achieved this.”

The Green Tyre Dealer Scheme launched recently by the Retread Manufacturers’ Association to promote the safety, performance and environmental benefits of retreaded tyres has been endorsed by the Chairman of the National Tyre Distributors Association. Martin Rowlands, Director of the Kinross-based retailer Tyrefair Ltd, was one of the first dealers to join the Green Tyre Dealer Scheme. He is also the current Chairman of the National Tyre Distributors Association, the national body representing independent tyre dealers within the UK. Rowlands said: “I wholeheartedly support the active promotion of retreaded tyres and applaud the RMA for their initiative in developing the Green Tyre Dealer Scheme. Retreads are environmentally friendly, their appearance is good, they have the same speed rating as new tyres and they are excellent value for money”.

The campaign, which will only be seen in Japan, is costing Bridgestone about 10 million Euros and also features three television spots filmed in Munich and featuring the player.
Michelin has embarked on a major new marketing programme that is designed to further enhance their position as the leading tyre brand in the UK. The campaign involves a series of television commercials using the catchphrase ‘Show me the logo’ which will centre around customers demanding the Michelin brand when purchasing tyres.The campaign will be supported through dealership promotion.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pirelli, Mario Tronchetti Provera, considers the PAX-agreement between the two tire giants positively. Pirelli is already a developing partner, together with Michelin, regarding PAX and Run Flat Technologies in general. Tronchetti said that Goodyear’s involvement will further accelerate the development and the promotion of PAX.
