ZC Rubber using Dow-produced foam to make Mobike tyres

Mobike, one of the world’s largest bike-sharing companies, is adding e-bikes to its fleet that use new foamed integrated tyre solutions. The tyres are a result of a partnership between Dow and Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber to develop a tyre solution based on mixing Dow’s Infuse Olefin Block Copolymer (OBC), Engage Polyolefin Elastomers and Nordel EPDM.

Continuing the theme of technological development, Linglong Tire – a top five Chinese tyre enterprise – exhibited a number of technological developments including its: a dandelion natural rubber-based tyre, a tyre featuring a graphene compound and a polyurethane tyre manufactured with 3D printing techniques.

Carlisle buys Accella Performance Materials for US$670 million

On 2 October 2017 Carlisle Companies Incorporated, which grew out of the Carlisle Tire and Rubber business established 100 years ago, has agreed to purcahse Accella Performance Materials, the specialty polyurethane platform, from Arsenal Capital Partners for US$670 million in cash.

Amerityre appoints new CEO

Amerityre Corp. has named Michael Sullivan who has been chief operating officer of the company since 1 December 2014 as CEO. The appointment took effect on 1 April 2015. In February, Amerityre, which makes industrial tyre products and polyurethane tyre technologies, reported that it cut its net loss by one-third in the quarter ended 31 December to $128,465 on sales of $1.35 million. This announcement marked the firm’s 78th consecutive quarterly loss.

Stellana launches Optima system

Stellana, Inc., a moulded polyurethane wheel manufacturer recently introduced its Optima line of polyurethane tyres for the material handling industry, which apparently differ from press-on bands. “Standard press-on tyres come with costly trip charges, press-on charges, and downtime expenses. The Optima Tire System eliminates these costs: simply bolt the tyre onto your lift truck and you are up and running again,” said Stellana’s sales and marketing manager, Michael Scoon.
