Pirelli’s Cinturato P7 Blue was unveiled to the tyre business at Reifen 2012, where a 17” size claimed the honour of becoming the first EU label rated AA product on the market. A summer ultra high-performance tyre aimed at luxury, mid, full-size and sport cars, the Cinturato P1 continues Pirelli’s successful “Plus” strategy derived from original equipment product development. However, according to the company, the Cinturato P1 Plus is dedicated to the aftermarket and includes an increased emphasis on treadwear.
Pirelli characterised Malaysia as one of the toughest tests of the year for tyres thanks to its high track temperatures and an abrasive surface. Yet the reduced graining and lack of blistering illustrates the indisputable increase in durability over the much maligned original 2013 tyre allocation. Even so, the decision to provide the hardest compound […]
Pirelli is beginning its second three-year stint as Formula One’s exclusive tyre supplier in Melbourne, Australia this weekend, having deemed its new P Zero White medium and P Zero Yellow soft compounds the best suited to the street circuit. It was double success for Pirelli recently, when the Pirelli Cinturato P4 and the Pirelli P6 achieved the highest scores in the 2008 Which? magazine tyre test. Which? tested two sizes of tyre: 175/65 R14T, typically fitted to superminis, for which the Pirelli Cinturato P4 was the overall test winner and 195/65 R15V, fitted to popular medium/large cars, where the Pirelli P6 achieved the joint highest score. The tests consisted of seven disciplines; dry braking, dry handling, wet braking, wet grip (straight), wet grip (bend), wear, noise and eco rating. Each tyre performed well across all disciplines, resulting in Pirelli being awarded the Which? “Best Buy” status for both sizes.
