Nexen Tire extends Eintracht Frankfurt sponsorship

The recently announced continuation of its partnership with Manchester City F.C. isn’t the only football activity that Nexen Tire is maintaining during the current season. The tyre maker has announced an extension of its sponsorship of German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt e.V. The freshly-reaffirmed partnership will continue through to the 2024/25 season.

When Nexen Tire first threw its hat into the ring of Europe’s all-season tyre market a decade ago, most motorists – and most tyre makers – considered these products best suited to smaller cars with just a handful of horses under the bonnet. Product development has brought all-season tyres a long way since then, and attitudes have changed too. So it was that when Nexen recently launched its latest tyre for this segment, there wasn’t a single dimension for runabouts or city cars to be seen.

John Bosco Kim, currently president of Nexen Tire Europe, is returning to the tyre maker’s headquarters in South Korea to take on a new position there from mid-November. His European remit will be taken over by Peter Gulow, who is currently Nexen Tire Europe’s vice-president Europe Central & East, and DC Kim, vice-president Europe sales and marketing.

Nexen Tire expanding in Europe – milestones reached

Much has changed at Nexen Tire of late, a phenomenon particularly noticeable within the South Korean tyre maker’s European operation. In the past two years, the company has set up a new production facility in the Czech Republic and a European headquarters in Germany as part of its ‘Global Nexen’ strategy. This expansion is occurring parallel to similar growth in Korea and the USA.

Nexen Tire has extended its sponsorship deal with German football club Eintracht Frankfurt through to the 2021/22 season. With the newly extended contract, Nexen Tire enjoy visibility at the Bundesliga club’s home stadium including in broadcast feeds, perimeter boards and commercials.

Nexen Tire names new MD for DACH region

Peter Gulow, former director of Bridgestone Europe’s Central Region car tyre business, is to be the next managing director for Nexen Tire Europe’s ‘DACH’ region. The tyre maker will most likely provide further detail regarding the appointment this week, however it is understood that Gulow will be responsible for sales and marketing within the German, Austrian and Swiss markets.
