Giti Tire’s GT Radial brand is continuing to establish itself in the UK’s commercial vehicle market, and part of this process is its visibility at important trade shows. Early next month Euro Bus Expo 2014 is coming to the NEC Birmingham, and GT Radial will attend the show as an exhibitor for the first time. A range of products aimed at the passenger transport segment will be on display at the GT Radial stand, with the GSR225 Combi Road and GAU861 all-position urban city-bus tyres heading a comprehensive portfolio.
Of the 18 tyres GT Radial is presenting at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show, 11 are on display for the first time, including the recently-launched GSW226 winter steer axle and GTL925 low platform trailer pattern tyres.
GT Radial’s Hall 3 stand at Reifen 2014 hosted the launch of two new products alongside the already announced GSR225 Combi Road multi-use tyre. The GTL925 low platform trailer tyre and the GSW226 steer axle winter tyre are both being shown for the first time at Europe’s largest tyre fair.
Having made its debut at Coach & Bus Live 2013 in support of its all-position urban city-bus tyre, the GAU861, and with recent success in the closely linked truck market, GT Radial has ambitions to increase its share in the passenger transportation side of the commercial vehicle tyre segment. Tony McHugh, sales and marketing director at Giti Tire UK, and marketing director – Europe, Peter Foulkes told Tyrepress that the company’s “broad coach and bus portfolio”, including 22.5” and 17.5” fitments, is now well placed to pursue increasing numbers of potential fleet customers, while the brand has existing deals within the sector in Germany.
Two years after bringing its first hot cure retread tyre to the UK market with the GTR990 regional trailer pattern in size 385/65R22.5, GT Radial will launch a further two products as part of its REE Tread programme. The GDR690 regional commercial vehicle drive pattern will be available in 295/80 and 315/80 sizes, and will be produced, like the super single product, by a major retread producer in the south east of England. As with the previous tyre, it will be manufactured using only GT Radial casings. Tyrepress discussed the extension to the retread range with sales and marketing director Truck and Bus Tony McHugh and marketing director – Europe Commercial Tires, Peter Foulkes at Giti Tire (UK)’s new headquarters in Cheshire, near Manchester.
