Van den Ban’s private label Novex has been upgraded with a more mature identity and improved assortment. The distributer has displayed great confidence in the Novex brand, produced by what it describes as “a well-known Asian tyre manufacturer” and the range is developing rapidly by introducing new patterns and sizes. With the increased winter and all-season assortment, VDB says Novex is now in a better position to respond to the needs of the market.
Europe, beware – winter is coming, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. The first snow has already fallen in the mountains of Switzerland, and that means the start of a new winter tyre season. Van den Ban (VDB), however, reports itself winter ready and says its expanded assortment of winter tyres is even more extensive compared with prior years.
Wholesaler Van den Ban says that its selection of winter products is “wider than wide” this winter, and the company is expecting to cope well with “normal demand”. In recent winters VDB has experienced “very early” seasonal demand for winter tyres, but with a somewhat milder winter last year, the company is confident that this early rush will be evened out into “normal demand” this year, “commencing later than previous years”.
When Tyres & Accessories last visited Van den Ban Autobanden in April 2008, the company’s new warehouse facility was arising from a 24.000 square metre greenfield site on outskirts of the Dutch town of Hellevoetsluis. Even then the scale of the project, intended to consolidate the wholesaler’s two storage facilities into a single location, was evident. A key component of the project remained under wraps at this time, however, and therefore a second visit to the completed warehouse was necessary. What T&A saw upon its return to Van den Ban in Hellevoetsluis early in 2010 was impressive, to say the least.
Van den Ban was an imposing presence at Reifen 2008 with a two level stand encompassing 170 m2 of exhibition space, displaying a wide assortment of premium and private brands. Blackstone, Novex, Federal, Hero, BCT, Silverstone and Sava were all exhibited.
VDB particularly concentrated on its Novex SUV Speed tyres, showing the wide range of SUV/4×4 tyres added to the Novex range during the last year. The SUV Speed is a very extensive line with sizes from 205/70/HR15 up to 275/40/WR20 and another 14 between them. The range boasts a very modern tread pattern, competitive quality/price ratio and the aforementioned wide choice of sizes.
The inclusion of the Wanli name and the mentioned UK sales figures in the previous Tyres & Accessories e-Newsletter on Van den Ban (08/04/08) were erroneous. We wish to clarify that this brand is not supplied by Van den Ban. In addition the name of Van den Ban’s budget brand is BCT, and not PCT as mentioned in the same article. Tyres & Accessories apologises for any confusion this may have caused.
With Van den Ban sales figures increasing daily, the company is in the process of building new and larger premises. Van den Ban’s new warehouse will be 24,000 m2 and together with its existing container terminal of 20,000 m2, Van den Ban will be able to hold between 1.5 and 2.0 million tyres in stock.
Netherlands based wholesaler Van den Ban (VDB) has completed an agreement with BCT (Beijing Capital Tyres) which will see it initially offer three patterns of this Chinese tyre in their portfolio. The PCR S600 line will have the following sizes in the range 155/65/TR13 – 195/60/HR15, the Ultra High Performance S800 will be available in 205/40ZR17 – 235/35/ZR19. The High Performance a-symmetric pattern S900 will be sold in 185/55/VR14 – 205/55WR16. All the described sizes are available from November. VDB has plans to extend the range of sizes next year and towards the end of 2008 with the addition of a Light Truck and M&S programme also being added to the BCT range.
VDB also recently extended its Novex range on two fronts: a new SUV/4×4 range has recently been introduced under the ‘SUV Speed’ name, along with a new range of winter tyres called ‘Snow-Speed’. The SUV Speed initially offers 16 sizes whilst the Snow Speed consists of 56 sizes which also incorporates light truck patterns as well.
International tyre wholesaler Van den Ban will once again be taking a very professional approach to their presence at this year’s Reifen 2006 Show with a new, larger stand and free entertainment.
At this show Van den Ban will promote its products and services to the global industry from a 120 sq m stand that will once again have an upper floor where visitors (both existing and new) can have serious discussions about their future requirements in a relaxing and comfortable environment.
Two fully loaded trailers, with over 2,000 tyres, were stolen from Van den Ban’s headquarters in Holland last Friday. The company is appealing to members of both the UK and European tyre markets to provide any information that may lead to the recovery of these tyres.
Dutch wholesaler Van den Ban has undergone considerable changes in the past couple of years, not least of which is a change in management, with Frans van Lenten becoming managing director. The company undertook a review of all its business activities and the decision was made to concentrate purely on core activities, which in Van den Ban’s case meant tyre wholesaling and logistics. Van den Ban recently introduced a new private brand, called Novex, and other own-label brands will be added later this year. The company prefers private brands to exclusive, yet manufacturer-owned, brands, as the former allows Van den Ban total control and different brands can be aimed at different sectors of the market, or sold through different distribution channels.Last year the Van den Ban group sold around four million tyres and plans are under way for the construction of a new 24,000 square metre warehouse, capable of holding 1.2 million tyres.
