DSV Road Holding NV will continue to distribute Westlake commercial tyres in the Nordic region after the company extended its strategic partnership with a new five-year contract. The partnership began in 2016. DSV offers a wide range of Westlake Tyres covering truck, bus and trailer tyres and services in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

GS Yuasa launch new company to service Nordic and Baltic markets

GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd are pleased to announce the establishment of a new sales company to serve their Nordic and Baltic export regions. GS Yuasa Battery Nordic began trading from a new distribution centre in Jönköping, Sweden in December 2019. The creation of a new sales company and distribution centre in Sweden represents a significant investment from the battery manufacturer, as it aims to increase market share in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

Nokian Tyres splits Europe in Central Europe and Nordic regions

Nokian Tyres is separating its Business Area Europe into two business areas: Business Area Central Europe and Business Area Nordics. Anna Hyvönen, SVP Vianor and member of Nokian Tyres Management Team, has been appointed SVP Nordics and Vianor, with the additional responsibility for Nokian Tyres Nordics. Pontus Stenberg, who has been SVP Europe and member of Nokian Tyres Management Team, is leaving the company to pursue his career outside of Nokian Tyres. Hannu Liitsola, currently managing director Central Europe, has been appointed interim Head of Business Area Central Europe.

Falken launches studded Espia Ice tyre designed for Nordic market

Falken has launched a new studded winter tyre for the Nordic and Baltic markets, featuring a new tungsten carbide stud design and pressure-optimised sipes for increased levels of extreme winter weather performance. Motoring association NAF tests Nordic winter tyres

The Norwegian motoring association NAF (Norges Automobil-Forbund) has conducted a test of Nordic market winter tyres. The products coming under the NAF microscope typically differ from cold weather tyres sold in the UK and Western Europe in terms of compound – a softer compound is used for Nordic winter tyres – and more than half also featured studs.

In its Annual Report for 2013, which was released today, Nokian Tyres estimates that approximately 111 million winter passenger car and van tyres were sold last year in its main regions of activity. This includes 69 million winter tyres sold in Europe (excluding the Nordic countries) out of a total of 230 million passenger car and van tyres sold in the region.

Nine new UK ‘stars’ in Michelin’s latest Main Cities guide

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. Once again, Michelin’s guide inspectors have travelled through 20 countries looking for the best hotels and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. The result of their labours is the 32nd edition of the Michelin guide Main Cities of Europe. The 2013 issue of the gourmet’s bible offers a selection of 3,728 establishments, including 2,154 restaurants and 1,574 hotels.

Malcolm Scovell New Michelin Tyre Plc Commercial Director

Malcolm Scovell has been appointed as commercial director for Michelin Tyre Plc with responsibility for the UK and Republic of Ireland. He will be based at Michelin’s UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. He replaces Hervé de Froment, who is transferring after four years in the role to take on a new position with Michelin in Spain. The latest appointment signifies significant change in the management of Michelin Tyre Plc as it follows the appointment of Bill Schafer 42 as commercial director of Michelin’s truck and bus operations in July. Scovell brings with him extensive industry experience after 34 years with Michelin, most recently as managing director for the replacement car tyre market for the Nordic countries, based in Stockholm.

Nokian Launches Hakkapeliitta 7

Nokian Tyres is introducing a new Hakkapeliitta winter tyre. Called the Hakkapeliitta 7, the studded tyre has been developed for demanding and quickly changing winter conditions. Nokian says the tyre, which replaces the Hakkapeliitta 5, combines its winter properties with driving comfort. Driving comfort was chosen as an essential target for improvement, the Finnish manufacturer adds, and has been enhanced without compromising levels of grip.

Dekk Partner Hosts 400 for Nordic Tyre Tests

Dekk Partner recently invited its Nordic suppliers and customers for a winter adventure at Gol Mountain in Norway. It was an intensive week with more than 400 visitors, all experiencing the best of the Norwegian mountains. Temperatures of -22 degrees in the morning (peaking at 6 degrees during the day) meant there was always enough snow-covered roads, but conditions were bearable.
