Online tyre and wheel distributor Delticom announced yesterday that Rainer Binder, the company’s co-founder and indirect major shareholder, intends to resign as chairman and member of the Delticom Supervisory Board. Binder is reportedly relinquishing this role for “personal reasons” and his resignation takes effect from 29 February.
Delticom has re-launched its Tyretest.com sites following a design facelift. The customer review-based website has also been optimised for display on mobile end devices. Tyretest.com was launched in 2000. Since then, the portal has been expanded to over 20 countries. It now has more than 600,000 tyre and product reviews in its database.
Michelin has designated mytyres.co.uk as a “Michelin Approved Website”. By doing so, Michelin confirms that mytyres.co.uk meets all the quality standards established by the tyre manufacturer for products, services, and the sale of its tyres. The seal is awarded by TÜV Rheinland on the basis of an annual test.
Delticom, the German-based online tyre retail and wholesale firm, presented its entire range of B2B Services during Reifen in Essen. According to company representatives, which market themselves as yourtyres.co.uk over here, the trade fair appearance proved extremely positive, resulting in “hundreds of interesting and constructive discussions with international clients and media representatives.”
This month, online tyre dealer Delticom celebrates 15 years in the business. The company was set up in Germany on 2 July 1999 by former Continental sales managers Rainer Binder and Dr. Andreas Prüfer, together with internet expert Timon Samusch. Initial capital invested in the company was DM 60,000 (approximately €30,000 using the changeover rate), and turnover in the second half of 1999 amounted to DM 1.8 million. On 15 January 2000, the four-employee company (at the end of 2013 Delticom had 254 employees) launched its first B2C portal, the German-market reifendirekt.de site, and the following May it entered the B2B segment with autoreifenonline.de. At its absolute peak, Delticom received 600 orders a day in 2000.
