German motorcycling magazine Motorrad MO has recommended a trio of brands in its test of a half-dozen roadgoing sports tyres. MO fitted the candidates to a Triumph Street Triple RS and evaluated their performance in a range of parameters, publishing the results in its September 2020 edition.
The aim of magazine tyre tests is to inform consumers about product performance, and this is typically quantified in a point score that results in a winner. But the best tyre – for you – is the one that most closely meets your individual priorities and driving style. Recognising this truth, Austrian motorcycling magazine Motorrad Magazin refrained from crowning any particular tyre victor in the test of five enduro tyres published in its current (5/2019) issue.
Pirelli is happy about the “tenth important recognition” its Scorpion Trail II has gained in a comparative test. It says the tyre’s strong performance in the test conducted by Austrian motorcycling publication Motorrad Magazin (issue 5/2019) “confirms its position at the top of the enduro street segment.”
We’re used to seeing Continental products winning or securing a podium place in car tyre tests, and in the 12/2017 issue of Motorrad magazine, the tyre maker has also cleaned up in a test of motorcycle tyres. The German publication declared the Road Attack 3 the victor in its comparative evaluation of six size 120/70 ZR17 (front) and 180/55 ZR17 (rear) touring tyres.
The Dunlop TrailSmart, the manufacturer’s tyre for the fast-growing trail sector of the motorcycle market, has impressed tyre testers at two magazines. It was the only tyre to receive five stars in both wet and dry handling in a recent MotoMag test, while Motorrad described the tyre as “near unbeatable in the wet emergency braking test from 100km/h.”
