The German oil and additive specialist Liqui Moly has completely revised its app. It provides information on the right motor oil for a particular vehicle. The Liqui Moly app is available free of charge for iOS and Android.
A mobile-friendly version of the BKT website went live today, and the off-road tyre maker says the m.bkt-tires.com site offers improved content research and browsing from any mobile device, with six language options (English, Italian, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese) available from the start. Additional languages will be introduced in the near future to cater to a wider range of users in the 130 countries where BKT is present. Site visitors from the USA will also be spared the ignominy of metric measurements by choosing the US standard option within the site’s settings.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists is warning drivers about the dangers of distracted driving after research found that nearly one in ten (nine per cent) of drivers admit to crashing their cars because they were distracted. Just under one in twenty drivers (four per cent) say that someone was injured in the crash.

New research published by Direct Line for Business reveals that Britain’s builders, plumbers, electricians and other tradespeople are living out of their vans – using them as mobile offices, bedrooms and entertainment centres. While not wanting to be accused of being asleep on the job, Britain’s tradespeople are using their vans as mobile homes with 11 per cent sleeping in their vehicle. Almost a third (31 per cent) of tradespeople use their van as a mobile office to manage their business. Vans are also used as mobile dining rooms, with just under a half (45 per cent) of tradespeople eating their meals in their vehicle.

A motorist who claimed to have taken so much Viagra he could not leave the house was just one of a number of excuses from people who failed to tax their car.
According to information released by DVLA, motorists caught for not having a tax disc last year used a variety of excuses, which included "My mate said that if the cost of the tax is more than what the car's worth you haven't got to pay it."
One motorist claimed to have fallen out of a tree while fruit picking and broke both arms so they could not fill in the necessary forms, while one motorist even blamed their mobile phone.

The Road Haulage Association welcomes the news that Transport Minister Patrick McLoughlin is considering increasing the fine for dangerous driving offences, including texting or making a phone while behind the wheel, by 50 per cent.
This means that the fixed penalty for using a handheld device while driving would go up from £60 to £90, while other offences like running a red light, driving without a seatbelt and speeding will also fetch a higher charge.
