Martin West retired as global president of Maxam Tire International Limited. He left the Sailun Group company at the end of last month and has been succeeded by Troy Kline. The president of Maxam Tire North America has assumed full responsibility for European operations.
Sailun Jinyu International (SJI) has appointed Gareth Passmore as its president for Europe. He replaces Martin West, who has been appointed global president of the SJI Speciality Tire Group. Passmore will be responsible for all operations throughout Europe of the four brands within the Sailun Jinyu Group portfolio – Sailun, Jinyu, Black Lion and Rovelo. He will join Sailun on 1 December 2016, and be based at the SJI European Operations Centre in Birmingham, after relocating to the UK.
Maxam Tire International will exhibit its latest OTR, agricultural, industrial and construction product lines from its large stand in Hall 7 (7E19). While this positioning echoes the brand’s positioning two years ago at the last Essen event, much has since changed, with its head office moving to Birmingham and Sailun Europe head Martin West taking over as managing director. Maxam has also appointed new managers, who will attend the show.
Maxam Tire International Limited has appointed a new senior product marketing manager. Shaul Nuri brings more than three decades of tyre industry experience to the position, and will focus on developing Maxam market share in the agricultural tyre segment with the Agrixtra and Flotxtra ranges. Shaul will also provide input into Maxam’s other core segments, OTR and construction.
Following a very successful initial presence at Bauma 2013, Maxam Tire says it is returning to exhibit and demonstrate “a vastly improved product portfolio and a much-developed organisation.” The company will exhibit its OTR products both internally (Hall A6, stand 324) and outside (in the atrium between Entrance West and Hall B1).
Maxam Tire International Limited (Maxam) has confirmed that Kings Road Tyres (KRT) will be its UK and Ireland distributor for Maxam agricultural, industrial and construction tyres.
Based in West London, and with several distribution centres throughout the UK and a specific facility serving Ireland, KRT have established a successful partnership with Maxam over recent years. Adrian Bader, managing director, KRT, commented: “We are delighted and very enthused to refocus our partnership with MAXAM, particularly with the very exciting development and introduction of their Agrixtra agricultural tyre range. This additional to our brand portfolio in this vibrant replacement market is perceived at KRT as a great enhancement for our dealer network.”
Maxam Tire International has appointed Liverpool-based Kirkby Tyres as UK & Ireland OTR distributor with immediate effect.
According to the company, the appointment is an indirect consequence of a wide-ranging Maxam strategic review – which also resulted in the relocation of its global headquarters to Birmingham and the appointment of Martin West as managing director.
Following the recent launch of its new Agrixtra agricultural tyre range, Maxam Tire is exhibiting at Agritechnica for the first time. Held in Hannover, Germany between 8-11 November, Maxam’s newly appointed global MD, Martin West, said the company is “delighted to be attending and exhibiting at Agritechnica.”
Sailun Tyres has launched two new passenger car tyres developed particularly for the European market in an event held in the Brittany village of Lohéac, France. The tyres both appear in the company’s Atrezzo PCR line; the Atrezzo Elite asymmetrical high performance tread and the Atrezzo Eco, designed as a more eco-friendly alternative to sit below the Elite in terms of size profile. Compared to their predecessor, the 90-size SH-402, the tyres both have patterns in keeping with current market trends. During the presentation of the two new tyres, Sailun also gave details of its first all-season tyre, the Atrezo 4 Seasons, which has also been launched in five sizes. The event follows Sailun’s collaborative events in Lohéac and Val d’Isère with its French distributor DistriCash, though this time the manufacturer was “standing alone,” in the words of Sailun Jinyu (Europe) managing director Martin West, with guests attending from across Europe.
Maxam has announced its strategic intent to grow global sales and market shares following completion of an intensive review of its operations. One result of this review has been the move of the operational support team from Luxembourg to Birmingham, where it will link up with the Sailun Jinyu European team, and stand in very close proximity to the nearby Sailun European Research and Development facility. In order to achieve its overall objective, the OTR tyre manufacturer has also planned number of initiatives.
Sailun will display its latest range of patterns from a 96m2 stand in the Bologna Trade Fair Centre’s Hall 15 during Autopromotec (20-24 May 2015). The stand will be supported jointly by the manufacturer and its Italian distributor, Farnese.
Sailun has announced that it has become the exclusive automotive sponsor of global charity World Child Cancer. The charity is dedicated solely to addressing the global inequality in diagnosing and treating children with cancer. Of the more than 200,000 children who develop cancer worldwide each year, 80 per cent are from low or middle income countries where fewer than five per cent will survive. The survival rate in high income countries is 80 per cent.
Tyre manufacturer Sailun showed its commitment to the US market by bringing online its tariff-beating Vietnam plant earlier in the year. Now, at an event co-hosted by distributor DistriCash in the picturesque Brittany village, Lohéac, France, the manufacturer has demonstrated its growing response to European markets’ performance demands with its latest ultra-high performance tyre, the Atrezzo ZSR.
April reports of the Sailun Group’s move to raise capital of “up to 1.2 billion yuan” (c. £114 million) through the private placement of shares is just the latest positive step in the development of a name still in its adolescence. While the merger with Jinyu in 2012, only its tenth year in existence, placed the company alongside larger manufacturers in China, overseas developments have followed, with a large factory in Vietnam online since February. Developing a European base has also come quickly, with Sailun establishing an office headed by managing director Martin West in Solihull by 2010, who has worked quickly to build partnerships with local wholesalers in the various European markets. Meeting West in Solihull, Tyres & Accessories asked how corporate growth has informed Sailun’s approach to the European market.
