The Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (Goodyear FIA ETRC) kicks off on 21-22 May in Misano, Italy. This year Goodyear increases its commitment to the pinnacle of European truck racing by becoming its title partner.
After two weeks and some 5,000 miles of battling in the most demanding terrain across the Arabian Desert, the Dakar Rally concluded with a second podium lockout by Kamaz-master. The all-conquering team took the top four positions with an intense battle between five-time winner Eduard Nikolaev and reigning Dakar champion Dmitry Sotnikov.
Goodyear has published the results of its first Sustainable Reality Survey, an investigation into what actions truck fleets and transport companies are taking to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as the sustainability plans they have in place and the obstacles still standing in their way. The tyre maker says the results proved encouraging.
Goodyear has announced the renewal of partnerships to equip tyres for two legendary and heavily titled truck racing teams, Kamaz-master and Petronas Team De Rooy IVECO, at the 2022 edition of the Dakar rally. Both outfits will continue to put their trust in Goodyear’s proven Offroad standard tyres for the gruelling competitive trek through the Arabian Desert from 1 to 14 January.
Goodyear and the FIA European Truck Racing Championship (FIA ETRC) have renewed their long-standing partnership with another three-year contract extension. The tyre maker says this underlines its “commitment to the exciting future vision of FIA ETRC”, including an increased focus on innovation, sustainability and talent development.
This year, Goodyear asked fleet operators in Europe for their views on issues related to sustainability and what they’re doing to reduce carbon footprint. A total of 985 fleets from 36 European countries responded during August and September 2021, and the results of this 2021 Goodyear Sustainable Reality Survey are now out and available from Goodyear upon request. Responses suggest that sustainability has a significant prominence for operators in the transportation industry.

Tyres have a role to play when it comes to achieving Europe’s lofty targets, and Goodyear points out that the fuel and CO2 efficiency gain achievable with low emission tyres and accurate tyre pressure management is equal to the gain by using more efficient engine technology. The tyre maker has a new truck range that it promises will deliver fuel efficiency on all manner of roads; it launched the Goodyear Fuelmax Endurance via an online presentation this morning.
On Saturday the Kamaz-Master factory team once again achieved a category win in the toughest rally in the world, the Dakar. As well as coming first in the 12-day rally-raid for the 18th time, team members also occupied the other spots on the podium. Official tyre partner Goodyear is thrilled with the result.
A week into this year’s Dakar event, and Goodyear reports that its partner team is dominating proceedings. The Kamaz-Master team has claimed six out of seven stage victories and two to three podium places so far.
The winning combination of Kamaz-Master and Goodyear will return to the Dakar next month. Goodyear continues in its position as official tyre supplier to the Kamaz-Master team, with Goodyear ORD again the tyre of choice for the 2021 event. Kamaz-Master’s trucks are now on their way to Saudi Arabia, where they will arrive in good time for the start of the 43rd edition of this rally-marathon on 3 January.
The former Promoter’s Cup category of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship will be renamed the Goodyear cup this season. The tyre maker has signed up as title partner for the category for ‘CHROME’ rated drivers, which is dedicated to upcoming talent. This ‘race within a race’ was introduced in 2017.
Kamaz-Master has notched up yet another Dakar victory. Last Friday, the team finished in first and second place in the Dakar 2020 after 12 challenging stages, winning the famous rally for the 17th time. As official tyre partner to Kamaz-Master, Goodyear is particularly pleased with the result.
