UK engine production rises in December

The SMMT says that UK engine manufacturing output returned to growth in December, rising 6.7 per cent. However, output fell 6.2 per cent over the year, following retooling at a number of facilities, although the outlook is bright, thanks to major investments into UK engine manufacturing.

Jaguar to make crossover vehicle in Solihull, creating 1,300 jobs

Jaguar Land Rover is to manufacture a new “performance crossover” vehicle at its Solihull production plant. According to the announcement made at the Detroit Motor Show, together with a bid to extend its expertise in aluminium and lightweight technologies, the company will create 1,300 new jobs. These are in addition to the 1700 created in 2013 for the introduction of the Jaguar XE. The company's headcount has doubled over the past few years to more than 32,000 globally, of which 30,500 are in the UK.

100 new jobs as Jaguar Land Rover chooses Coventry for tech centre investment

Jaguar Land Rover has announced its chosen location for the OEM’s Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre. The Technical Centre will be situated in Prologis Park, Ryton, near Coventry, and will become the global centre of excellence for the creation of high-end luxury bespoke commissions and extreme performance vehicles. Operations are set to begin towards the end of the year, with a team of 150 Jaguar Land Rover specialists based at Ryton, around 100 of which highly-skilled engineering and technician jobs will be new. £20 million will be invested in installing specialist equipment and a customer commissioning suite.
