Thomas Wohlgemuth has taken over as managing director of Prinx Chengshan Europe, effective 1 September. His appointment coincides with the relocation of Prinx Chengshan’s European head office from Slovakia to Germany. He succeeds Ivan Majsky, who is no longer with the company.
With the striking of a ceremonial gong, Prinx Chengshan (Cayman) Holding Limited went live on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at precisely 9:30am on 9 October. The tyre maker’s listing last month followed nearly a year of preparations and represents an important step in a growth and internationalisation strategy that also includes producing in Southeast Asia and making greater inroads into European and North American markets.
Less than two years after Prinx Chengshan Europe came into being, the company has already sold quantities of tyres numbering in the millions across Europe. Not only that, but the Chinese-based firm has also invested in a manufacturing base in Malaysia during the same period of time. Tyres & Accessories met up with European managing director Ivan Majsky and the rest of the European sales and marketing team at Tire Cologne in order to find out more.
Prinx Chengshan reports that it has added two big hitters to its European team. Jan Strban has joined, taking on the position of senior product marketing manager and Adrian Costache has taken on the role of area sales manager.
Jan Strban joins from Continental Slovakia, where he most recently held the position of head of product management. He brings with him experience as a member of international teams, involved in a large number of Conti’s projects over the last 15 years.
For Prinx Chengshan Tire Company, which is exhibiting at Reifen between 24 and 27 May, “Essen is calling”. The firm’s attendance marks its return to the well-known tyre exhibition some 10 years after the company’s last appearance. Lots has changed since then, not least the ownership of the company following the firm’s decision to buy-out joint venture partner Cooper Tire back in December 2014.
Ivan Majsky has joined Sailun as sales director for Central and Eastern Europe. He brings with him 20 years of experience in tyre sales, most recently as head of Cooper Tire & Rubber’s CEE sales office, from June 2007 to December 2014. His tyre industry career began at Continental Matador, where he worked as a sales manager between 1992, and 1998, and Majsky subsequently held positions with Al Dobowi and Hercules Tire.
