Last year, Heuver Tyrewholesale announced its intention to place greater emphasis upon the agricultural tyre segment, and backed this statement up with the rollout of the Barkley brand, a range the wholesaler holds distribution rights to throughout all of Europe, including the UK. In response to customer demand, Heuver Tyrewholesale has now expanded the Barkley range through the addition of a new, wider BLA01+ tractor tyre sizes.
Heuver states that it is “ready for maximum attack” following a shift in marketing focus and increase in size to support the company’s ambitious sales plans. The company said it has witnessed an increase in search and ordering activities in its web-shop, leading to a renewed focus on this business area.
Customers in Italy can now access the Heuver Tyrewholesale web shop in their own language. Following the rollout of a Spanish-language version, the Dutch wholesaler has now added Italian as the site’s sixth language option.
Heuver Tyrewholesale has expanded its team for the French market having increased its customer base in the country. The Dutch wholesaler has its own distribution centre in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier (near Lyon), which it says has helped to improve its service and increase business with French customers. Christian Bruder, a native Frenchman, has been added to the team as sales representative. Heuver states his appointment will further implement its geographical market vision, aimed at maximising customer satisfaction.
Having seen increases in its Iberian customer base, Dutch wholesaler Heuver has made its web-shop available in Spanish. Heuver said the introduction of another translation was a logical step, since it wants to offer the fastest possible access to the whole range and make things as easy as possible for customers.
Increasing sales can create pressure at specific points along a company’s distribution chain, and Heuver Tyrewholesale reports that sales growth over the past year did just that at its warehouse in Hardenberg, the Netherlands. According to the wholesaler, capacity issues “endangered the delivery times promised to customers.” In response, Heuver Tyrewholesale examined the layout of its warehouse, and has installed a tailor-made storage rack that increases warehouse capacity by 3,000 square metres.
Heuver Tyrewholesale reports that the four exhibition days at Reifen 2016 were a “great success” for the company. The Netherlands-based wholesaler placed a strong focus on Aeolus and Barkley at the show – Barkley, still a relatively new brand for Heuver and a Reifen newcomer, gained its own show stand, while the Aeolus tyre range was represented in a large, open exhibition space shared with Heuver.
May 2016’s Reifen show coincides with Heuver’s 50th anniversary; a conjunction that will enable the international wholesaler to mark this significant date in style. Heuver will thus highlight its anniversary over the course of the week from its Hall 2 stand (E42), from which it will also be showcasing Aeolus products, for which it is the exclusive distributor in eight European countries – a fact the company describes as “the icing on the cake.” Heuver added that its many brands for international markets will be represented by account managers from all countries on its stand.
This year Heuver Tyrewholesale celebrates its 50th birthday, and at the same time another person of significance to the company celebrates an important birthday milestone. Jan Heuver has turned 65 and reached the Netherland’s official retirement age, and therefore is stepping down as a director of Heuver Tyrewholesale. He was honoured by Heuver Tyrewholesale employees at an internal function held to mark the company’s half-century, and his retirement was further observed by the establishment of ‘Jan!’, the Jan Heuver Foundation, a surprise farewell gift the wholesaler believes a fitting one for the public-minded director.
It is now half a century since Mans Heuver entered the tyre business, swapping his job as truck driver for that of tyre dealer and opening a small shop in Den Ham, the Netherlands. Over time he and his two sons, Jan and Bertus, transformed this business into a large wholesale operation bearing their name, Heuver Tyrewholesale. But while the company is looking back on its history throughout the course of this year, Heuver Tyrewholesale is also looking forward to the future. This year sees the wholesaler renew its focus on the agricultural market and increase its efforts with OEM partners.
In mid-March, Heuver Tyrewholesale appointed Bert Vreys as its new account manager for Belgium and Luxembourg. During the course of 2015, Heuver decided that its agricultural sector, which is where the company’s roots lie, required greater focus. Heuver therefore reorganised its agricultural department and promoted Pieter Dubois from within the company.
The exclusive importer of the Aeolus truck, agricultural and OTR tyre ranges in eight European countries has launched an upgraded website for the range. Heuver Tyrewholesale says the new aeolus-tyres.com offers end users an overview of the whole range and allows them to search for specific tyres by application, axle position, vehicle type or size. The mobile and tablet-friendly site also features downloadable information and details of dealers in the eight target markets.
In 2015 Heuver Tyrewholesale increased turnover by 18 per cent. According to the company, this growth represents a major step towards Heuver’s objective of doubling turnover. There firm was also successful online, where Heuver Tyrewholesale realised growth of 14 per cent via its online channel. In terms of brands, Aeolus and Barkley are said to have made a major contribution to the overall result.
Heuver Tyrewholesale sees good opportunities for Aeolus brand commercial vehicle and earthmover tyres with OEM customers in Germany, and to help further its Aeolus activities in the original equipment segment has hired Guido Becker as account manager. Becker will concentrate on looking after the wholesaler’s Aeolus customers from within the tyre trade, freeing up Helmut Haak, who joined Heuver Tyrewholesale as account manager for Southern Germany in 2012, to focus on Aeolus within the OEM segment.
Heuver Tyrewholesale is half a century old this year, and the company says it will “not allow this important milestone to go unnoticed.” It has therefore come up with a number of customer promotions for 2016 and also intends to place greater emphasis on being Europe’s most customer-friendly tyre wholesaler. This aim has led to a fine-tuning of Heuver Tyrewholesale’s existing internal objectives concerning customer contact.
