As a tyre service provider the extensive range of tyres required to meet your customer needs can be mind blowing. Passenger, 4X4, Van and Truck all these can be sourced reasonably easily, but what about the “specialist” tyre sector? Among the customers in this area are Local Authorities, City Councils, County Councils, Parks Departments, Sports Grounds, Golf Courses, Leisure Developments, etc; the list is endless and the need is great for tyres from 3″ to 38″ and sometimes beyond, in various tread patterns, smooth, ribbed, block and tractive. Where can the tyre dealer go for help?
A First Stop tyre dealership and service centre has smashed the £25,000 milestone in its fundraising efforts for charities and worthwhile causes. Harpenden-based Pan Autos reached the target at a recent golf day for loyal customers, suppliers and friends, which added another £2,000 to money raised at 11 previous annual events since 1995. Proceeds from the golf day support a different charity each year. The benefactor on this occasion is the North London Hospice, which supports terminally ill patients in the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

Battery manufacturer Varta has highlighted an anomaly regarding automotive batteries – with today’s products vastly superior to those of a few years ago in both performance and longevity, how come the battery is still the cause of most calls to motoring organisations and breakdown service providers?
The answer, says Varta, is that there are so many power consumers on today’s cars that these can adversely impact on the ability of the battery and alternator to provide constant energy, particularly in winter where the nominal output of the alternator can be easily exceeded in even the shortest journey. And we are talking about modern cars with healthy batteries with comparatively low power consumers, such as lights and heaters.
