Carbon Clean, the engine decarbonising solution that works with tap water, has launched yet another ground-breaking, affordable garage workshop offering: the ‘DCS-16’ DPF cleaning system. The company states that DCS-16 will “transform the way workshops across the country tackle DPF cleaning, providing a fast and convenient solution for all types of DPF.”
Following the news that Tyre Bay Direct entered administration on 25 September, the company has announced that it is now part of Atlas Equipment. According to the company website, “After a short break in operations, Tyre Bay Direct is now fully operational and capable of meeting the usual needs of customers.”
According to Companies House, specialist garage consumables supplier Tyre Bay Direct has appointed an administrator. The appointment was made on 25 September and further details of this will be made public via Companies House in the next five days. However, judging by a statement on the company’s website there is every intention to continue business as a going concern:

National motor factor GSF Car Parts is celebrating its first birthday after seeing sales surge on the Vetech multi-fleet engine oils launched in 2016. The standard service life (5W30 SSL Pro) and extended service life (5W30 ESL Pro) formulations were launched in March 2016. Vetech high performance C4 (5W30 SLX Pro) extended service interval engine oil followed a few months later, as the high demand for the oils became clear.
Liverpool-based engine care specialist Cataclean has finalised a major agreement with the RAC’s fleet of UK patrol vehicles following a limited trial, conducted via Cataclean’s distribution partner Euro Car Parts on 40 vehicles. As a result, the RAC’s 1,400 vehicles will carry one of the company’s flagship products, Cataclean Diesel, which is primarily pitched as a solution to clogged diesel particulate filters, but can be used for petrol and hybrid engines too. Cataclean’s director of sales William Jones said the product was selected following a rise in the number of RAC call-outs to vehicles with clogged diesel particulate filters (DPFs).
Gaither Europe has announced the launch of a new line of tyre mounting pastes. The first product is titled Black Tire Mounting Paste, which is designed to help mount and demount tyres without leaving any visible residue. Secondly, the Truck Tire Mounting Paste is designed specifically for truck tyres.
Car care company Autoglym has launched its new Wheel Protector product which the company claims lasts up to 30 per cent longer than competitors.
Following the news that PCL couplings will now no longer be gold in colour, Tyres & Accessories visited the company’s Sheffield manufacturing. After this – in order to get a more global perspective – T&A visited PCL’s China operation and interviewed local general manager Robert Wang. China is, of course, a key growth market for many in the automotive and automotive aftermarket industries who are seeking to capitalise on the country’s strong manufacturing base, huge population and growing middle class. PCL is no-different, having relatively recently established its Shanghai operation as a means of getting a foothold in China. However it is also a complex market where market saturation and counterfeiting are barriers to entry and development.

While switching from silver to gold is arguably an aesthetic improvement it is clearly a lot more than that. As we have seen there are clear environmental and ethical benefits (several times during T&A’s tour company representatives spoke of how the switch was simply the right thing to do from a number of perspectives). It is also about communicating both the change and the reasons for it. Indeed, it is now that the phased changeover is well underway, that the tough work really begins.
Specialist oil developer and producer Millers Oils is launching its Flowcontrol bottle to worldwide markets at Automechanika Frankfurt this week. The company says the container features an easy-pour mechanism that enables users to control oil flow without the use of a funnel, thus preventing contamination and, of course, spills. In June 2014, the month that the new bottle design was introduced into the UK market, Millers Oils says its two local distributors experienced a 95 per cent year-on-year sales increase – a phenomenon it says was driven by the Flowcontrol bottle.
