Automechanika embarking on digital campaign in September

Automechanika is offering new digital networking opportunities for everyone who had been looking forward to coming to Frankfurt this September. Starting on 10 September, there will be a series of online training courses for workshops available at sneak-preview.automechanika-frankfurt.com. Visitors to the website will also find updated company profiles for exhibitors, while users of the new ‘Connect’ tool in the Automechanika app will be able to contact other automotive professionals directly.

Prinx Chengshan Europe moves to Germany – Thomas Wohlgemuth appointed MD

Thomas Wohlgemuth has taken over as managing director of Prinx Chengshan Europe, effective 1 September. His appointment coincides with the relocation of Prinx Chengshan’s European head office from Slovakia to Germany. He succeeds Ivan Majsky, who is no longer with the company.

The IBIS (International Bodyshop Industry Symposium) global conferencing platform and the international Automechanika trade fair brands are coordinating their schedule, meaning the upcoming Automechanika fairs in Shanghai and Frankfurt will each feature an IBIS regional event.

Doublestar car tyres on-sale in Carrefour Spain

Doublestar Tyres, the new majority shareholder of Kumho, recently announced that its tyres are on-sale alongside premium brands at Carrefour supermarkets in Spain.

According to Doublestar, which compared Carrefour founded in 1959 to Walmart in the USA, the supermarket chain is Europe’s favourite. Having pioneered the so-called hypermarket approach in Europe Carrefour has developed into the largest retailer in Europe and the second largest international retail chain group in the world, with business scope covering more than 40 countries and regions. Carrefour owns 17 large chain stores in Spain, which covers the Iberian area and radiates to the whole pan-European region. With an annual population of 400 million, Carrefour is a perfect channel for product sales and a perfect platform for brand exposure.

Automechika highlights Academy sessions

Ahead of its September show in Frankfurt, Automechechanika’s organisers are highlighting Automechanika Academy. Messe Frankfurt reports that it has “spared no effort with improvements being made not only to the exhibition concept but also to the accompanying lecture and professional-development programmes”. As a result, trade visitors can look forward to a full line-up of lectures, seminars and practical further-development courses. Indeed, Messe Frankfurt goes as far as saying “the Automechanika Academy programme is now of a size and scope that could easily provide the material for several supplementary professional qualifications”.

A step ahead or throwing in the towel? ‘Reifen’ show to abandon Essen

In a move that Messe Essen has described as “trailblazing”, yet may be interpreted by some as a back down in the face of new competitor trade show The Tire Cologne, from 2018 onward the Reifen exhibition will no longer be held in its traditional mid-year time slot or in the German city of Essen. Instead of going head-to-head with The Tire Cologne in the week of 29 May to 1 June 2018, Reifen has been rescheduled to take place alongside Automechanika in Frankfurt from 11 to 15 September.
