Delticom Stores Granted TÜV Shopping Seal of Approval

Product News

European online tyre retailer Delticom has expressed ‘delight’ that its online shops have been given the seal of approval by German certifier TÜV. Starting with the company’s German ReifenDirekt.de site, fifteen of Delticom’s shopping websites have been awarded TÜV S@fer Shopping status, and the company hopes this distinction will signal to customers a safer and comfortable online purchase.

There are strict requirements for the TÜV award, which is renewed every year in extensive tests. The certification focuses on a number of areas, including user-friendliness and transparency. Amongst other site qualities, TÜV requires that online customers find a clear menu navigation that allows them to complete the purchase process easily. Whether or not a site assures the protection of consumer data is another important factor taken into account.

Virtual Margins in the online tyre business

News, UK News

In recent years the online tyre market has swollen in size (as observed in other retailer sectors). Whilst the proportion of the total market controlled by this sector remains limited, the fact that the number of different e-tail platforms is continually proliferating means online sales could already account for as much as 3 per cent of the European replacement market. With this in mind, knowing more about how these businesses operate is of interest to everyone in the tyre trade.

The latest insight is that the average tyre offered for sale online costs consumers around £69.14, meaning the myth that ‘virtual’ margins are too thin to make business sense could be evaporating. However, the most commonly offered tyre online is characterised as a mid-range brand costing around £60. It seems making money online is all a question of business model.

Delticom Revamps Irish Website

Product News

Delticom has been busy of late. Not only has the company introduced all-inclusive services through its UK portal mytyres.com, the online tyre specialist has redesigned the website for its online presence in Ireland. The Irish site, eiretyres.com, has been totally refreshed with the aim of making it more customer-oriented and easier to navigate.

In addition to a clean, new design, much thought has gone into making the site’s function more user friendly and online purchasing a simpler task. An optimised, clear display of product searches helps customers find the desired product faster, and the various sorting functions help customers choose the right tyre. A leaner order process also shortens ordering times. Compact help functions support the online purchaser and provide answers to the most frequently asked questions as well as offering competent tyre advices.

Delticom Expands its Online Truck Tyre Offering

News

Delticom AG, the parent company of online tyre business such as mytyres.co.uk and reifendirekt.de, is reportedly expanding its truck tyres offering at ReifenDirekt. The product portfolio ranges from tyres for light commercial vehicles through business tyres and tyres for heavier trucks right up to special tyres – among other for tractors, forklifts and earth-moving. All well-known truck brands are available, according to the company.

Delticom’s move apparently comes in response to the downturn in the economy that has seen some consumers adapt a “savings instead of safety” policy by taking chances with tyres. Unfortunately, serious accidents involving trucks are not rare. According to statistics, provided by Delti every other truck had a fault in the previous year. In the safety tests prescribed for trucks, more than 47 per cent of the surveyed vehicles had problems, especially with the tyres.

Delticom H1 Revenues Continue Growth

Product News

Internet tyre retailer Delticom has released news that, in spite of the general market slowdown, Europe’s number one e-tailer continues its impressive record of growing revenues. The first six months of fiscal year 2008 have seen the company storm to 121.5 million euros, preliminary figures reveal, showing a proportional increase of 19.1 per cent on last year’s H1. The news displays an impressive Q2 for Delticom, having returned a 9.4 per cent rise in Q1.

Even the chilly early-spring’s assault on the summer tyre market hasn’t been able to dent Delticom’s progress because the May heat in Western Europe and sales in other regions continued to lift figures, thanks to the international nature of Delticom’s e-commerce. In fact, sales in other regions accounted for 65 per cent of H1 revenues, allowing the company headroom in markets where units could not be shifted as quickly.

Delticom Results Show Strong Growth in EU Markets

Product News

Leading European tyre retailer Delticom AG has reported a 9.4 per cent year on year revenue increase in the first three months of 2008. Details of the company’s Q1 2008 performance, release May 14, point to growth in spite of what is traditionally a week time of the year for tyre sales.

Revenue during the quarter was 42.6 million euros, compared with 38.9 million in the first quarter of 2007. EBIT improved from 250,000 euros in Q1 2007 to 510,000 euros this year. At the same time, consolidated net income rose to 480,000 euros, an increase of 29.7 per cent. Regarding the figures, Delticom comments that the first quarter is traditionally the weakest in sales, and this held true in the first quarter of 2008 – unseasonably cool March weather caused many drivers in Germany and other European countries to delay the purchase of summer tyres until April.
