“Boring” F1 tyres should be replaced with Avon or Goodyear – David Coulthard

13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard has slammed the current generation of Formula One tyres, which are supplied by Pirelli. Speaking in an interview with RaceFans.net, Coulthard said Pirelli era tyres resulted in boring races: “This whole Pirelli era is just confusing to me and boring to me to have to talk about, and super-boring for me to have to listen to the drivers going ‘I was trying to avoid pushing too hard on the tyres’.”

Cooper Tire Europe has reported on what it says was a successful The Tire Cologne trade fair, an event that saw the Cooper and Avon brands drawing large numbers of visitors to the stand. The Cologne show proved, the tyre maker adds, “an excellent venue” for the global launch of its new Discoverer AT3 line.

Cooper Tire Europe’s rugged Discoverer A/T3 Sport tyres took their place in the limelight at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, as part of the Chelsea Truck Company’s stand.

The 88th Geneva Motor Show ran from 8-18 March and placed the Cooper brand in front of nearly 700,000 visitors and more than 10,000 of the world’s media.

Cooper Tire on ADAC tyre test: “We’re proud to receive this accolade”

It narrowly missed taking first place in the ADAC’s test of 15 size 215/65 R16 98H tyres, but the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport nevertheless received the same ‘good’ rating as the victor – the only tyre to do so. Austrian partner association the ÖAMTC and Switzerland’s TCS gave the Cooper tyre a rating of ‘highly recommended’ in their versions of the test, and Cooper Tire Europe has expressed its pleasure in the motoring organisations’ positive evaluation.

Murray Coulthard Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship

Having signed David Coulthard as its brand ambassador for ultra-high performance tyres a year ago, Cooper Tire has extended its relationship with the Scottish motorsport dynasty. Coulthard’s nephew, Murray Coulthard will complete the rest of his Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship (STRC) season on Avon Tyres. Murray drives a 1984 Vauxhall Nova and fit Avon ZZR rubber for the first time at the Solway Coast Rally, winning his class first time out. He will now switch to Avon Tyres for the remainder of the season.

As if going to Hell and back wasn’t enough for David Coulthard, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe reports that he’s now caught a fever. The tyre maker says the ex-Formula One driver and BBC F1 commentator returned from the third round of the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship, which he attended as an ambassador for Cooper Tire, with a case of ‘World Rallycross fever’ that has given him a new-found appreciation for the sport.

Cooper and ambassador Coulthard on the road to Hell

Exclusive FIA World Rallycross Championship tyre supplier Cooper Tires is taking a trip to Hell with its ultra-high performance brand ambassador, David Coulthard. The 13-time grand prix winner will attend the Norwegian round of the revived series in Hell, near Trondheim on 14-15 June. Coulthard will attend the event with Cooper, andwhile this occasion will not see Coulthard compete, he did not rule out participation in some form. The series championship has already attracted some big names, including ex-FIA World Rally Champion Petter Solberg, reigning British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan and Top Gear USA presenter and X Games star, Tanner Foust.
