Four tyre plants in Japan and the Americas are amongst seven Bridgestone Corporation facilities to receive Caterpillar Inc.’s highest Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) rating. The manufacturer of construction and mining equipment has awarded Platinum Level certification to Bridgestone’s Hofu and Shimonoseki (Japan), Des Moines (USA) and Santo André (Brazil) plants.
Yokohama Tire Corporation has been awarded Caterpillar’s premier supplier award for the seventh year in a row. The award – Platinum Level Recertification in its Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) – went to Yokohama’s factory in Onomichi, Japan. The plant produces òriginal equipment and replacement off-the-road (OTR) tyres for a wide range of equipment.
Caterpillar Inc has approved the Maxam MS302 L3 tyre for use on specific Cat medium wheel loaders in size 23.5R25. The tyre is currently available as a factory fitment option on Cat 950GC, 950L, 950M, 962L, and 962M in certain regions. Additional Maxam MS302 tyre sizes have also been validated and approved for future factory fitment on additional Cat medium wheel loaders.
Caterpillar has awarded the Bridgestone Americas agricultural tyre plant in Des Moines, USA the highest level in the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) certification – Platinum Level for a second consecutive year. These back-to-back platinum awards follow three years of Gold Level SQEP certifications. Bridgestone Americas says receiving the latest Platinum Level certification “represents a significant milestone” for Bridgestone and the Firestone agricultural tyre team.

A new agreement between Continental AG and Caterpillar Inc. will see the tyre maker equip the 770 to 775 model series of Cat off-highway trucks with Continental RDT-Master tyres in sizes 18.00R33, 21.00R33 and 24.00R35. The agreement also covers a collaboration between the two companies for the design of new tyres for two other Cat products – medium wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks.
The Building Construction Products Division of Caterpillar, Inc., has presented Alliance Tire Group (ATG) with a fourth-quarter 2015 Business Continuity Planning award in recognition of the company’s “perfect performance” in supplying Galaxy Beefy Baby tyres to Cat’s Sanford, North Carolina, plant.
The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) is to invest £200,000 in the first stage of four-month project which aims to develope smart tyre pressure system (commonly called TPMS) at MIRA. According to the two parties, the project aims to help increase the fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of all heavy duty land vehicles that use pneumatic tyres.
