Falken restructures European management team

Career Tracks

In response to growth in recent years, Falken Tyre Europe GmbH has added a further tier to its management. As part of this restructuring, Andreas Giese and Mario Pannwitz join Keiichi Miyamoto in the Falken Tyre Europe executive team. Falken will add “additional key positions” to the management tier over the medium term.

Whether a van is powered by internal combustion or electricity, the demands placed on its tyres remain consistent. Therefore rather than developing specific electric light commercial tyres, Falken is improving the efficiency and durability of its van tyres to enable its range to support ongoing ICE vehicle utilisation and the transition to electric-powered models alike. Andreas Giese, senior manager, corporate and product planning, Falken Tyre Europe answered Tyres & Accessories’ questions about tyres and the electrification of the fleet.

ADAC test: Falken “meets… all requirements of a premium tyre”

The Falken Azenis FK510 ultra high-performance tyre’s victory in the ADAC 2021 summer tyre test follows a “highly recommended” rating from both the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) and the Austrian Automobile Touring Club (ÖAMTC) in their 2021 summer tyre tests. The tyre achieved the result in the 225/50 R17 17 Y tyre dimension. This size is suitable for numerous medium-sized vehicles such as the Audi A4 or the Volkswagen Passat. The result marks the second win for a Falken pattern in an ADAC summer tyre test.

The coronavirus outbreak and subsequent lockdowns mean that sales of car tyres especially have sustained a harsh blow around the world. But as measures introduced to halt the spread of COVID-19 begin to be eased, motorists will steadily begin to use their cars again, increasing demand. In the car tyre sector, high value, ultra-high performance segments could prove vital, as better potential margins offer attractive opportunities for increasing cashflow quicker. The other side of that coin is that motorists’ finances are also under pressure, putting the price they pay for their car tyres under even greater scrutiny. Could this, therefore, present an opportunity for mid-range brands to make a case for their products, offering more palatable performance compromises compared with premium rivals than the lowest-priced brands?

Falken has launched its new Ecorun A-A, a new summer tyre with optimised rolling resistance. The tyre offers fuel-saving design features and good braking distance in wet conditions – its name is derived from its double-A rating on the EU tyre label, having achieved class topping fuel efficiency and wet grip. Falken flagship UHP tyre, Azenis FK510, to expand to SUV sizes in 2017

Falken will expand its ultra-high performance (UHP) flagship tyre, the Azenis FK510, to include SUV tyre sizes in 2017. The Sumitomo Rubber Industries global brand states that the new additions reflect the growth of the SUV market and continues the tyre manufacturer’s strategy of supplying an extensive range of products in profitable and high-growth segments. Starting in January 2017, the Azenis FK510 SUV will be available in 19 sizes ranging from 17 to 22 inches and will come with a speed rating of W or Y.

Falken to launch new UHP tyre, Azenis FK510

Falken has announced the launch of its latest ultra-high performance tyre for high-end vehicles, the Azenis FK510. The tyre is the company’s response to the continuously growing demand for UHP tyres. The new flagship Falken tyre has already received a ‘Highly Recommended’ rating from testers at German auto magazine, Autozeitung (Issue 6/2016). The German association of technical inspectors, GTÜ, also gave the tyre ‘Highly Recommended’ status.

Sumitomo’s “fossil fuel-free” tyre was one of the products on display at European brand, Falken Tyre’s Reifen 2014 stand, and while the tyre is still in development for the European market (as opposed to the Dunlop-branded version on sale in Japan), Falken has embraced a commitment to greener tyres similar to that of some higher-priced premium brands. The manufacturer’s Ecorun range, with patterns such as the Ziex ZE914 and Sincera SN832, distinguish its more environmentally-friendly products, with notably large improvements in their performance achieved in the last few years.
