Earlier in the year, Tyres & Accessories attended the launch of the latest tyre for specialist off-road brand, BFGoodrich. The All Terrain KO2 was described as “our best all-terrain tyre ever,” by BFGoodrich business segment manager Claire Fioretti at the “Landrauvergne” launch (Michelin’s pun referencing the Anglo-French nature of the event, and the tyre’s target Land Rover fitments), characterising the event as a “return to our core 4×4 segment in Europe.”
Less than eight months after its North American market launch, BFGoodrich Tires reports having sold more than one million All-Terrain T/A KO2 tyres. An initial range of 12 sizes was brought to market in November 2014, and the current line-up of 40 sizes will grow to more than 61 sizes when the range expansion is completed in the coming months.
Every summer, thousands of Land Rover enthusiasts throughout France make their way to the Auvergne region and pay homage to the esteemed off-road brand. Over a three-day period they test their vehicles’ mettle on a series of rugged courses, and when not traversing rocks, steep slopes and mud they can be found shooting the breeze with other like-minded devotees. Tyres & Accessories was present at the 2015 edition of ‘Landrauvergne’ during the first weekend in July, and in addition to being treated to the rare sight of our French neighbours flying the union flag and celebrating all things British (and least when it comes to off-road motoring), we gained the opportunity to experience the successor to BFGoodrich’s pioneering All-Terrain T/A KO in action.
The launch date for the successor to the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO has been announced. The tyre maker claims the new All-Terrain T/A KO2 will be its “most advanced light truck tyre ever” and has scheduled its North American introduction for 1 November; it is likely that UK drivers will need to wait until 2015 before picking up a set.
