Advan Named as Control Tyre for New Series

Yokohama has announced that it will supply an Advan branded control tyre for a new race series that will form part of the support package for the Advan-equipped 2007 FIA World Touring Car Championship. Currently called Formula S2000, the new series will feature identical single-seater chassis powered by a 250bhp four-cylinder engine and running on control Yokohama Advan tyres.

Nutahara Takes Second P-WRC Win

Yokohama ADVAN-equipped and supported Japanese driver Fumio Nutahara took his second rally win of the season in the FIA Production car World Rally Championship on Rally Japan in early September. This brings his total to two wins from three events so far and he is now second in the championship with three more scoring opportunities.

Advan Sport OE on New Audi S8

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., has announced that the company’s Advan Sport (V103S) tyre has been approved by Audi AG for original equipment on the new S8 model. The 265/35ZR20 99Y XL tyres are the first Yokohama products to be fitted to an Audi and the latest addition to Yokohama’s Advan Sport flagship series.

Yokohama Adds Sizes for Advan, Parada Spec-X, and ES100

(Akron/Tire Review) In the US Yokohama Tire Corp. has expanded its performance tyre lines – Advan Sport, Advan S.4., Advan S.T., Parada Spec-X and ES100 – with a series of new sizes. During this year, Yokohama added 27 sizes to the Advan Sport line, seven sizes to the Advan S.4. line, and three sizes to the Advan S.T. line. Seventeen sizes were recently added to the Parada Spec-X line, and two sizes were added to ES100 line.

Yokohama Develops Advan Aircraft Tyres

Yokohama has announced that it has developed the “ADVAN AC Y-255,” radial aircraft tyre. The company began delivering the products for use on Boeing 777-200 and 777-300 aeroplanes in March. The products are sized 50×20.0R22 (26PR and 32PR).

Yokohama Wins First Production-WRC Stage

The Yokohama/ADVAN equipped Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX of Fumio Nutahara has won the opening round of the 2006 FIA Production car World Rally Championship (P-WRC). The Rallye Monte Carlo is the first time the Japanese manufacturer’s tyres have won a round of the P-WRC and the maiden victory for Nutahara.

Nutahara is a seasoned campaigner in the production category of the World Rally Championship, for group N, or showroom specification, cars. However, for the 2006 season, Nutahara has engaged the services of experienced co-driver Daniel Barritt and the combination is already paying off.

Yokohama OE on Lotus Elise and Exige Ranges

Yokohama has been selected to supply OE tyres to the Lotus’ 2006 Elise and Exige ranges. The Lotus Elise 111R and Lotus Elise Sports Racer are both fitted with the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 tyre, which has been developed specifically for the demands of Lotus models. Furthermore, the entire Exige range is fitted with the company’s Advan A048 tyres as standard. The A048 is designed primarily for track day users, but is also e-marked and therefore road-legal.

(Fullerton, California/Tire Review) Yokohama Tire Corp has premiered its new Advan brand television commercial on the Speed Channel. The commercial was aired multiple times during the network’s replay of the 12 Hours of Sebring 2005 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) event. “We believe Advan will reinstate Yokohama as the premier ultra-high performance consumer tyre-maker,” said Art Michalik, director of marketing communications for Yokohama.

Yokohama Exhibits Advan at Geneva Show

Yokohama Rubber will show exhibit at the 75th Geneva Motor Show, highlighting the company’s Advan flagship brand. The company will exhibit a Gemballa Cayenne fitted with 22 inch Advan ST tyres emphasising its focus on high performance technology, according to a statement. Yokohama Rubber will also exhibit its safety support technologies at the show, including its Zero Pressure System, Support Ring Run-flat System, and tyre pressure monitoring system for passenger cars.

The website will provide information on the brand policy and the latest ADVAN offerings, as well as links to dealer home pages around the globe. The company says the web site will underscore its brand image with the “Not for Everyone” catchphrase. The web page will also feature Advan Spirit and Product sections, which will highlight the company’s concepts initial offerings respectively.
