Goodyear recalls 82 truck tyres in the US

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has named Ryan Waldron President of the firm’s Americas business unit, reporting to Chief Executive Officer and President Mark Stewart. He succeeds Steven R. McClellan, who retired on 1 April.

Goodyear has launched the new three-star RL-5K Off-the-Road (OTR) tyre for large wheel loaders and wheel dozers. The RL-5K is Goodyear’s newest radial OTR tyre in the 45/65R45 tyre size and is constructed to withstand the air pressure necessary to deliver an increased three-star load capacity, which translates to a 16 per cent increase in load carrying capacity, based on Tyre & Rim Association data versus RL-5K two-star predecessor in this size The RL-5K with three-star capacity also features a deep, 250-level durable tread to deliver cut resistance and traction in severe underfoot conditions.
On 2 April 2024, BKT received Excellent Level certification from Caterpillar Inc. under its Supplier Excellence Recognition (SER) Process for the second consecutive year. As a value product, the Dunlop All Season 2 arrives in a segment of the all-season market that, according to Goodyear’s projection, will grow an estimated two to three per cent annually between 2023 and 2028.

At the start of March, Goodyear launched the Dębica Presto in Europe. The Dębica Presto is aimed at “modern SUVs” and is said to offer “excellent wet grip and efficiency”. The first new SKUs have been available since January. A total of 22 new sizes will be on the market by August 2024.
Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is supplying its BluEarth-XT AE61 tyres as original equipment (OE) to Toyota Motor Corporation for use on the new Yaris Cross compact SUV , which was launched in Thailand in October 2023 and will be available in international markets, but not Japan. The Yaris Cross is being fitted with 215/60R17 96H and 215/55R18 95V size tyres.
During an earnings call with investors in mid-February, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) did the closest thing possible to throwing its hat into the ring when it comes to buying Dunlop tyre brand rights when SRI executives acknowledged their interest in buying Dunlop in Europe and North America. Those rights currently belong to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, which recently announced its intention to position Dunlop as a “strategic player within the high-end value segment of the market” to prevent direct competition against its main Goodyear brand within the premium segment.
Truck manufacturer DAF has awarded Goodyear its Master rating for a third consecutive year. Goodyear says its retention of this top rating “underpins its commitment to close collaboration with OEMs.” It also considers maintaining this “prestigious status” for three years in a row to be evidence of the company’s ability to “deliver exceptional value to its customers.”
Major industry trade fair The Tire Cologne is drawing near and will take place between 4 and 6 June. Following its debut in 2018 and first post-pandemic show in 2022, this third instalment promises to be a significant event for the tyre and wheel industry. Advance ticket sales for the three-day event have commenced and show organiser Koelnmesse has now published an exhibitor list online. Three of the world’s largest tyre makers don’t appear on it.

The publication examined 11 brands in size 235/55R19, and although none of the candidates achieved top marks on every type of surface, two tyres offer an “all-round no worries package on and off the road.”
