Tyre retail: The tyre retail business is facing unprecedented challenges across the UK and Europe. On the one hand, most countries are in some kind of lockdown, which is reducing retail footfall. At the same time, miles driven are dropping, which has put the brakes on new tyre demand. However, a significant minority of key workers rely on wheels to get them around and logistics can’t get from A to B without tyres. May’s Retail Report brings our annual tyre retail ranking up to date and consider the innovative ways in which the tyre trade is responding to the covid crisis.
OTR Tyres: The OTR tyre market delivered a mixed bag of results in 2019, with a light rise in demand for mining tyres counterbalanced by a sharp drop for original equipment construction tyres. That was last year. Uncertainty currently taints the outlook for both sectors in 2020, and we certainly don’t want to speculate about how they’ll develop. Instead, next month we’ll bring you the latest products and news from the OTR tyre market. Pick up your May magazine for full details.
