Motorway tyre pressure checking scheme extended
A safer roads service that allows car, van and lorry drivers to quickly check their vehicle’s tyre pressures before resuming motorway journeys has been extended until the end of the year. The project was launched in April 2015 for an initial three month trial period, but was so successful – with more than 1,000 vehicles being tested a week – that the decision was taken to continue the scheme through to Thursday 31 December.

The 80-strong Countrywide commercial vehicle fleet ranges from vans to articulated trucks and was previously serviced through a range of independent dealers.

Supermarket giant Asda has joined forces with TyreSafe to bring vital lifesaving tyre safety messages to its stores and customers nationwide. Asda is the first major supermarket to join the non-profit tyre safety organisation, and it will work with TyreSafe to provide tyre safety advice and guidance to its 19 million customers through both its stores and the Asda.com/tyres website.

CEVA Logistics has been awarded the contract to provide tyre warehousing and transportation services to Continental in the UK. The new five-year contract is worth more than US$50 million and involves CEVA’s management of the 21,000 square metre Continental warehouse within the Central Park industrial estate in Rugby. The supply chain management company will receive, store and dispatch around three million tyres a year and also manage Continental’s UK transport requirements using both its own dedicated fleet and a network of regional partners.

The formal agreement to acquire Test World was preceded by the establishment of a “strategic collaboration” between Millbrook and the Finnish facility in June 2015. The collaboration was announced at Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2015, in Stuttgart which ran from 16 - 18 June.
