Retreading, recycling and the sustainable future
The tyre recycling and sustainability sector continues to transform. As well as the development of established norms such as retreading, there are ongoing advancements in tyre recycling such as the field of pyrolysis. At the same time, there is growing utilization of recycled rubber in various applications from rubberized asphalt to consumer goods. Meanwhile, government regulations and incentives are fostering the adoption of sustainable practices, encouraging businesses to innovate and invest in eco-friendly solutions, which support a more circular economy. The March 2025 edition of Tyres & Accessories magazine offers an overview of the latest news as well as insights into developing trends in what is fast becoming an integral part of the wider tyre business.

Commercial vehicle tyres
Tyres & Accessories looks to the commercial vehicle tyre segment in March. The major suppliers to fleets increasingly support the logistics industry’s sustainability goals with a holistic approach to tyres. Fleet management software, enabled by sensors and increasingly sophisticated approaches to digitalisation are integrated into full-service packages. The tyres themselves are increasingly tuned to offer a mix of performance characteristics tailored for the different applications, while also ensuring maximum longevity through initial tread life and a carcass that can be regrooved and retreaded. Meanwhile, the European retreading sector is continuing to receive support from the European Union in the form of a refreshed set of tariffs on products manufactured in China; though China’s largest players have largely off-shored production of CV tyres destined for Europe. We look at the sector in more detail in the March issue.
