The organisers of the Campionato Italiano Velocità (CIV) have selected Dunlop as the exclusive tyre supplier for the championship’s flagship Superbike category, in a deal spanning the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The arrangement was announced during a pre-season presentation at the MotorBikeExpo and makes Dunlop sole tyre supplier for three of CIV’s five categories, as the brand is already the tyre partner to the Italian platform’s Moto3 and Pre-Moto3 classes.

Dunlop will provide riders with slick racing tyres in two front and three rear specifications, offering CIV Superbike riders the KR109 front tyre in size 125/80R17 and KR108 rear tyre in 200/70R17. The manufacturer comments that both tyres are “closely related to those raced by leading teams in arenas such as the FIM Endurance World Championship.”

“Among the most important innovations for the new season is the presence of Dunlop as the sole supplier for the Superbike category,” comments Simone Folgori, who is responsible for the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana (FMI)’s Velocità competitions. “The class is of an increasingly high standard, with major manufacturers and talented and experienced international riders. We are happy to see Dunlop strengthening its commitment to CIV, as the company will now supply tyres to Pre-Moto3, Moto3 and Superbike. Together, this partnership will only help the championship to grow.”

Aldo Ciccone, racing manager, Dunlop Italy, adds: “Dunlop and CIV represent a winning combination of competitiveness and extreme performance. We are proud to expand our partnership with the FMI as the sole supplier for the Superbike category, the flagship of CIV. For us, this partnership represents a stamp of approval for our products and a further incentive to provide better and better tyres to riders.”

The CIV Superbike season begins at Misano on 2-3 April before progressing to rounds at Vallelunga, Mugello and Imola.
